(Y/N)'s POV

"Has Hermes answered your prayers (L/N)? Maybe you should try harder, close your eyes tightly, put your hands together. He might listen then." She mocked, (Y/N) gritted his teeth, "Well, that remains to be seen, unless you feel like leaving?" "Wrong answer!"

(Y/N) felt something pass through his body, as if a ghost had just jumped through him. Suddenly, the air in the shrine felt hotter, his skin began to blister more rapidly, his breaths just felt that little bit heavier on his lungs.

"What did you do to me!" He shouted. she glared at him. "Don't think you can raise your voice to me." She said in a register barely above a whisper, her eyes glowed, (Y/N) looked at Annabeth still lying on the floor beside the goddess. Who looked at her and spoke.

"Let's not wake her. That death trance trick, clever. But foolish. I mean what's to stop someone from doing...this?" She asked, and a shudder passed through the air. How could a shudder pass through the air you ask, (Y/N) had no clue, but he felt it.

It were as if Tartarus itself had a shiver run down it's spine. "What was that?" (Y/N) asked, "A gift for later. For what you did to my dear Alabaster. Despite your uncles' best efforts, he still has nightmares of that mutt you know, I'm just returning the favour."

The goddess waved her hand and just like with the torchbearers, Annabeth was smudged into the background, (Y/N)'s heart lurched, "What did you do to-" He was sent sprawling to the ground as some invisible force hit him.

(Y/N) quickly recovered, reaching for his weapon. The goddess warned him "Don't. I'm here to talk, she's fine I just wanted some privacy." "She'd better be." He muttered, she began to laugh.

"Still haven't learnt your lessons, have you demigod. Don't make me laugh." "You still haven't learnt yours." He snapped, "I've had a lot of gods laugh at me over the years, I've beaten most of them." The goddess stopped laughing, her voice and eyes turned cold. "But not me." She warned.

"Honey, I know you're a demigod and all, but let me tell you something," she said, her voice dripping with condescension. "You're not as powerful as you think you are. I mean, you're cute and all, but you're still just a mortal with some extra sparkles."

"Demigods, such delicate things, part mortal, part god, quite the distinction between the two, each child is a bundle of blessings, I think you, (Y/N) (L/N), have too many, do not test my patience. You are the one who started the hostility, not me."

"You attacked me." He said, "Did I?" She rolled her eyes, (Y/N) kept his hand firmly on the hilt of his sword, Hecate smiled, her piercing green eyes blazing with a fire that could melt the very stones of the underworld. "What is your metal stick supposed to do against me?" She asked.

Suddenly, his hand burnt like acid. He tried to hold on to the weapon, but reflex alone forced him to pull away. "Who do you think put that lovely little curse on Nyx's blade?" She asked rhetorically.

"Why are you here?" He asked as his hand burned so badly he had to look at it to see if it had fallen off. "I told you already demigod, Nyx has sent me to see why you are lingering in this domain and not venturing into hers."

"That, and I do have some personal business to attend." "Personal business?" "Never you mind that, answer the question. Don't even attempt to lie. I would rather not spend an extra second down here, even if I would enjoy prying the truth from your mind."

(Y/N) answered reluctantly, "Well, the walk to grandmas house hasn't been easy you know. They have a whole nursery rhyme about it. Or is it a short story?" He pondered, Hecate smirked, "Humour in Tartarus, quite a rarity."

"But you have no intention of going to the domain of Nyx do you." (Y/N) opened his mouth, ready to tell her that she was wrong, that they were just making a quick detour first. The goddess frowned at him before he even spoke.
