It is Friday night dinner. I am wearing a pink tweed jacket, white ruffle shirt, and a pink tweed skirt. My accessories are my rose pink locket, my pearl earrings. I paired my outfit with my light pink Louboutins. They were a gift from my grandfather Straub and Grandmother Francine. I grabbed my pink edition of Little Women as I left my room.
"Hanlin, we did the right thing. If no other students get special treatment why should Rory. Just because Lorelai is making a huge deal about doesn't mean you should cave. The policy is in place for this reason. Alright. I will talk to you and Biddi at the club. Good evening. "Grandmother said. "Good evening, Grandmother. Is Lorelai trying to overturn the ruling?" I said. "Good evening, Princess. Of course she is. How can she think what Rory did is acceptable and Rory hasn't even apologized to you. That women." Grandmother said frustrated. "I am deeply sorry that you have to deal with this headache, Grandmother." I said. "Thank you, Victoria. I will be fine. Go ahead and read your book, well we wait for Lorelai and Rory to arrive." Grandmother said. "You are welcome, Grandmother. Yes, Grandmother." I said. I walked over to sofa and sat down. I opened my book and started to read.
"So where'd you say Dad was?" Lorelai asked. "Away on business." Grandmother said. "Location's top secret?" Lorelai asked. "Grandfather is in Germany." I said. "Germany. Is Dad's firm insuring Nazis now?" Lorelai said. "Your father doesn't know any Nazis." Grandmother said. "Grandfather doesn't know any Nazis. Was that supposed to be a joke." I said. "I know, Mom. I was just." Lorelai said. "What?" Grandmother asked. "Joking. She was joking." Rory said. "Oh. Hard to tell." Grandmother said. "Yeah, well." Lorelai said. "Oh, I'm afraid I have some bad news. Claudia died." Grandmother said. "Who?" Lorelai asked. "Claudia. Your cousin Claudia. Claudia!" Grandmother said. Lorelai just stares st Grandmother. Rude much. "I'm hearing the name, Mom. I have no idea who that is." Lorelai said. "Claudia's your cousin, for all intents and purposes." Grandmother said. "Oh, now we're getting to it." Lorelai said. "She was your father's grandmother's sister's girl. So to you, that would make her." Grandmother said. "Family." I said. "Nothing?" Lorelai said. "Regardless the funeral's on Thursday. I thought we'd all go together. Victoria can't come due fact she volunteering. Claudia was a big a fan charity. She has only met her great grandcousin once." Grandmother said. "She was very nice. She showed me pictures of Grandfather when we was younger." I said. "Ooh, whoa. Two problems. Impossible to get away from the inn Thursday. Two, I've never met this woman." Lorelai said. "You most certainly have." Grandmother said. "When?" Lorelai asked. "Several times." Grandmother said. "I'll take one." Lorelai said. "We went to her house in Groton to see the first moon landing. She'd just gotten a new Philco." Grandmother said. "I have no memory of this whatsoever." Lorelai said. "Victoria, correct me if I'm wrong, but men have walked on the moon regardless of whether your mother remembers it or not." Grandmother said. "July 16, 1969, November 14, 1969 – November 24, 1969, and July 26, 1971 – August 7, 1971." I said. "Thank you, Victoria." Grandmother said. "That's the rumor." Rory said. "I know men have walked on the moon. Victoria, how do you remember all those date? Just don't know Claudia." Lorelai said. "She has a photographic memory. So you're not going?" Grandmother said. "Not this time." Lorelai said. "I don't think Claudia's planning to dying a second time." Grandmother said. "Mom, I couldn't go if I wanted to." Lorelai said. "Fine. Oh wait -- Rudolph Gottfried." Grandmother said. "Another cousin?" Lorelai asked. No, a n*zi that we knew. I'd forgotten. We stayed with him once in Munich. Nice old man. Interesting stories." Grandmother said. "He had very interesting stories, terrifying how detailed they were." I said. "Mom you socialized with a n*zi? That's despicable! That's heinous! And you took Victoria with you!" Lorelai said. "No, dear, that was a joke. Good job Victoria." Grandmother said. "You are welcome, Grandmother." I said. Rory laughs.
