Chapter Seventeen: The Red Flash

It was the final day of the tournament and the fifth Legendary Blader was yet to be found. Sandra, Kyoya, and the rest of the Bladers who made it to the top four needed to be transported by helicopters to the location of the third round. As Sandra expected, the helicopter ride was completely awkward with only the two of them sitting together in one seat. The bey stadium Sandra would be battling in was a "sky stadium." It was carved into a tall rock elevated above the fog, so she was not able to see the bottom. Although, that was the least of her problems. She was still trying to understand the realization that she held some sort of feelings towards Kyoya, her rival and friend.
Sandra and Kyoya were against Bao and Aguma, two Bladers who apparently had a dark history with Beylin Temple. In addition, it was revealed that Bao was the owner of the bey with the crimson flash. For some reason, Sandra felt as if she had seen those two boys before, but she doesn't remember when nor where. Adding even more on the line, if her team won, she would be facing Gingka and Yuki. Sandra knew there was no way Kyoya would let that chance to battle Gingka again slip away.
"Kyoya, I've been working on a new special move," said Sandra to Kyoya. "Do you think it might work on those two?"
"We have try with everything we got," Kyoya replied.
"Catch your breath, everyone! Who will advance to the final battle? Will it be the Kyoya/Sandra team or will it be the Bao/Aguma team?" Chinese Blader DJ asked to everyone watching.
Something about these two boys, something's not right regarding these two. She swallowed and shifted into her "Second Sight" as she gazed at the two Beylin Fists across the stadium. Bao's resonance is bright red and hinted with bright yellow, with a good deal of strength and skill. But Aguma's resonance is purple hinted with red, but it was much stronger and more powerful than an average Blader. That must he's the Chinese's Legendary Blader.
She shifted back into her regular gaze and glanced at Kyoya uneasily, which he had caught. "The one with the red flash doesn't have it, but the one in the shadows does."
Kyoya nodded understandingly at her sudden warning. "Okay. I'll hold him off while you take care of his partner."
Sandra nodded. "Understood."
She soon gazed at Bao, feeling as if she had seen him before and yet she doesn't remember when. Though upon close inspection, they did share the same eye shape. His golden eyes had a conflict of emotions raging through them as he gazed at her sadly. Emotions rolled around inside Sandra like a whirlwind. She doesn't know whether to feel curious or confused or wary or uncertain.
Sandra observed Kyoya modify Fang Leone, though she was not sure what changes he made and thinks it might be helpful. "Kyoya?"
Kyoya readied his own bey with his launcher. "Think you can beat me?! Let's see!"
"So then, let's do this thing!" Chinese Blader DJ cried out.
Sandra secretly modify Byakko and exchanged a knowing nod with Kyoya. Sandra and Bao prepared their beys for battle as well.
"Kyoya! Sandra!"
"You can do it!"
"You gotta win!"
She exhaled shakily.
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
"Let it rip!"
All of them launched their beys into the stadium. Before receiving her shoulder injury, she's familiar with the stadium as much as her beyblade is. And she's not the only one. Both Kyoya and Leone were familiar with the stadium. But they were unsure if the two Beylin Fist boys were familiar with the stadium as they were.
Sandra smirked as her hair blew around from the wind. "Show no fear partner!" She held her hand out in front of her. "Byakko!" Byakko accelerated its speed and started attacking the Hades bey swiftly.
"Wait, Byakko?" Bao's eyes widened in amazed recognition at the sight of the speedy blue and white bey that has green outlines gleamed up at him. "That bey..."
All of a sudden, Leone went to the center of the stadium and remained there. Sandra decided to follow his actions and Byakko stood still.
Sandra raised an eyebrow. "Kyoya?"
"Just watch and learn," The lion boy responded.
"Chopsticks! What can the plan be now, kids?" inquired Chinese Blader DJ. "They aren't moving. They're just spinning in place. They stand as still as the Great Wall of China!"
Standing there, she could feel the frustration of the crowd on her back.
"What gives? Do something!"
"This is boring, boys! Battle already!"
Disappointed, boos echoed all around. She knew Kyoya had a plan, but she was't exactly enjoying the negative attention she all were receiving.
"Go now, Kronos!" Aguma said.
"Kyoya, he's on the move," noted Sandra.
"That's fine with me. Bring it on!" shouted Kyoya.
Kronos aimed for Leone, who did not move an inch, and closed in. The two clashed, creating a strong spout of soil. When everything cleared, Leone was still spinning steadily at the center.
"What's going on out there?" Aguma asked.
"What's wrong? You're giving up after one attack?" Kyoya asked in response. "Why not come at me again? Keep on attacking, pal!"
"Kronos!" Aguma gave into Kyoya's taunts and Kronos continuously attacked Leone, but it was to no avail.
"Attaboy, keep coming. My Leone won't try to run like you did! It will stop all of your attacks!" Staring in awe, it dawned on Sandra that Kyoya must have put Leone in Defence Mode before the match started. Sandra smiled, knowing he was beginning to finally understand his newly evolved bey.
Byakko then charged straight for Hades at full speed and crashed it into the side of the stadium with a massive explosion that shook the entire arena. The cloaked man with a staff of Hades rose from its bey and let out a battle cry at Byakko, but it wasn't quick enough. The giant white tigress hit Hades again and pinned the man to the side of the stadium with its claws and teeth.
Bao's eyes widened with surprise when the tigress pinned the bey figure of Hades to the side of the stadium and repeatedly clawed at Hades' face. Not many people managed to pin down the mighty beyblade before. Maybe the girl did have the power of a true Legendary Blader.
With one hit after the other, Hades roared in pain and slammed into the stadium repeatedly. Bao clenched his fists, clearly frustrated and was about to give it his all. "Hades!"
The man roared and created a fire tornado that blew Byakko back. Hades rose and flew into the air and shot fiery wind at Byakko.
"Byakko! Go!" Sandra yelled and shielded her face with her forearm. Byakko almost got hit by Hades again, but quickly outran and dodged the bey.
Bao smirked playfully at her. "What? Can't take the heat?"
She smirked back at him with secretive mischief. "You think I can't take a little heat?" Sandra smirked. "A little fire doesn't scare me. Byakko!" She flashed a knowing smile at Bao and felt a little victorious when his own grin was wiped off his face. Byakko stopped running from Hades' strikes and stood its ground at the bottom of the stadium. Hades aimed another fire blast at Byakko and hit the Tigress bey, but to no effect. Byakko took the hit and kept spinning, unfazed.
"What?!" Bao's eyes widened. To say he was surprised was an understatement. He watched the way the girl glowed and saw how her bey responded. Fending off his attacks took strength and while this girl had power, she was an equal match for him. "Hades!" The bey continued sent fire at the Tiger bey.
"Stand your ground Byakko! Don't be afraid of Hades! Go!" Sandra yelled and stood her ground.
The giant white tigress hit Hades again and pinned the opposing bey to the side of the stadium with its claws and teeth. He watched the way the girl glowed and saw how her bey responded. Fending off his attacks took strength and while this girl had power, she was an equal match for him.
She waved her right arm in front of her as she recalled Byakko. Her bey stopped attacking Hades and came back to spin at the edge of the bey stadium in front of her. "But that doesn't I won't give it my all, Legendary Blader or not!" Sandra felt something deep within her soul set on fire and felt its warmth spread throughout her body. She couldn't see it, but her cyan aura started glowing even brighter. Bao was giving her a run for her money and she wanted nothing more than to prove this bloke was wrong and beat him.
"Go, Byakko! Attack Hades with all of our might!" The beautiful white tigress beast rose up from the bey and stood tall as it stared down Bao with its blue eyes. "Special Move: Northern Light Strike!"
In a dazzling flash of colors, the Northern Lights appeared over the bey stadium as the white tigress roared to the sky. Byakko then charged straight for Hades at full speed and crashed it into the side of the stadium with a massive explosion that shook the entire arena. The Hades beast of the Hades Crown rose from its bey and roared at Byakko, but it wasn't quick enough. The giant white tigress hit Hades again and pinned the bey to the side of the stadium with its claws and feline teeth.
In the next moment, everything changed. Warrior Byakko started glowing brighter and brighter until a bright golden flash of light had suddenly occurred. Sandra saw her bey transform right in front of her eyes.
"Huh?" Kyoya questioned with his eyebrows raised. He watched as it changed from a more average-looking bey to something that looked much more powerful. Kyoya glanced at the girl and hummed. The star fragment did choose her. He smirked. "Well, this just got even more interesting."
"I knew the Star Fragment chose her too!" Yuki exclaimed happily.
"Good job Sandra!" clapped Gingka.
"Stand strong Sandra!" Mei-Mei cheered.
From what Sandra could see initially, her Warrior Byakko bey has transformed completely. The once solid blue energy ring was now white with thin blue stripes and green streaks while the fusion wheel looked like it had layers. However, the face-bolt was still a light blue with a white roaring tiger on it. To Sandra, her beyblade looked beautiful.
"Byakko?!" exclaimed Sandra, amazed and stunned at the sight before her eyes.
"King Lion Crushing Fang!" Sandra smiled at Kyoya, who had took the distraction quickly and continued getting ready to send Aguma's bey flying.
Leone emitted a green beam of energy as both beys were falling straight down. There was an explosion midair, and their beys were both launched right of the stadium. Aguma and Bao could only watch their beys fly out of the stadium and landed in front of their feet.
"Woah, yeah! It's decided! Earning a spot in the top battle with this battle is the Kyoya/Sandra team! Woah, baby!"
"We did it!" Sandra celebrated.
Kyoya smirked. "It was obvious from the start."
