The morning air was crisp and cool as the baseball team gathered around the dining table, their obnoxious voices being the first thing you hear.
Your footsteps quickened with each step, curiosity, and irritation bubbling beneath the surface as you wondered what could be causing such a commotion.
Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, you were greeted by a scene of controlled chaos. The baseball team members were gathered in the living room and dining room, their voices of excitement and anticipation. Plates clinked and utensils clattered as they bustled about, their energy even more noticeable.
Conri, a calm and steady presence amidst the frenzy. He moved with purpose around the kitchen, his focus was unwavering, his expression one of quiet determination as he tended to the sizzling pans on the stove.
Despite the chaos around him, Conri remained unfazed.
You were used to the sight. Not only did he cook like that for you but his own family. He hated going outside back then and did as many house chores as he could. It was funny seeing him changing, as much as it was irritating as well.
You made your way over to Conri's side, your gaze meeting his surprised pair. "What's all this racket about?" you asked, your voice cutting through the noise with authority.
Conri flashed you a smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners with amusement. "Just feeding the hungry masses," he replied, his tone light and as he gestured to his friends waiting loudly.
Bacchus and Mink being the loudest, urged Conri to speed up. "Come on, Connie, we're starving over here!" Bacchus exclaimed, his voice laced with impatience.
Mink nodded eagerly in agreement, his eyes fixed hungrily on the breakfast spread. "We can't wait longer, man. We need fuel for our big day ahead!"
The rest of the team chimed in, their voices blending together. The women who joined the room looked annoyed as they waited along with the noisy group.
Bacchus and Mink hovered nearby, their stomachs growling audibly as they urged Conri to hurry up with the food. The rest of the team joined in, their voices blending together in a cacophony of impatience.
"Hey, ease up on him," you chided, stepping into the fray with a stern look. "Conri doesn't need to be rushed. You're lucky he's even cooking for you all."
Your words seemed to have the desired effect as they quieted down, their cheeks flushing with embarrassment at your stern pout.
"Sorry cottontail!" They offered sheepish apologies, you huff at the dumb nickname, nearly scolding them for that too.
Just then, Conri emerged from the kitchen, a tray of steaming food in hand. His smile was warm as he set everything down.
"Breakfast is ready," he announced, his eyes meeting yours briefly before he turned his attention to the rest of the group.
"Connie, this is sooo good!" Jude exclaimed between mouthfuls of pancakes, his eyes widening in delight as he savored each bite.
Dwayne nodded in agreement, his expression one of pure satisfaction as he sampled the fruit salad. "Seriously, Conri, you've outdone yourself," he said, his voice filled with genuine admiration.
Conri grinned modestly, his cheeks tinged with a hint of color at the praise. "Glad you guys like it," he replied, his tone humble yet pleased.
Meanwhile, Milly eagerly tugged at your arm, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she beckoned you to join her at the table. You followed her lead, settling into the seat beside her with a grateful smile.
