Sharath had put these unwanted thoughts in her mind, now it was hard for Aarthi to process everything every day with the man who stands as a question mark.
If she ever questions about it, she doesn't know how Vijay would react. First, if he finds out that she'd met Sharath without him knowing is like voluntarily pulling the doom upon herself. She will suffer more than she could imagine. That's the only reason she shuts her curiosity and doesn't let a word from her mouth.
In the battle of peace or curiosity, she always chose peace. Vijay didn't question anything seeing her anxiousness. He must've thought that was one of her pregnancy symptoms, on the other hand, she was so worried whether he knew it already and just pretending that he didn't know. It's hard to read his face.
Whatever she assumes, he proves to her that they were all wrong. He's beyond her thinking, he always surprised her with his weird attitude, proving her every time that he's not a normal person.
"What's going on in your head?" he got her attention when she's cooking dinner for him while thinking about all this."Nothing," she nodded and continued cutting the veggies. He came lose to her.
"Do you need any help?" he asks.
"No," she nods.
"Come on, give that to me," he got the knife form her hands.
Aarthi watched him. From outside when people see them, they don't even believe that Vijay is such a chaotic person. A half psycho, perhaps a complete one. But from outside, he's a man of dignity, calm and successful man who looks after his wife well.
He cooks for her, cleans the house -like those work is only meant for women- and has been there for her in thick and thin.Only Aarthi knows what she actually goes through every day. She can't complain, she can't ask him anything that he doesn't like. She can't have a difficult conversation with him and she can't truly express what she feels.
The one thing he used to say is that I give you everything and you must obey me. Isn't that enough for you that I do everything you need. I gave you the best house. I gave a life that you want and made you happy. Soon you'll have a child and a family. This is all something he would say if she opens her mouth to criticizes him. He would make her feel guilty and there's nothing more she can talk back. He expects her to not question him for everything he does weird.
He gives reasons for her to stay silent and she wants to scream at him to stop being this way.
He doesn't treat her as a human, his wife. She's like a pet he got from the shelter.
This life is a cage and she knew she's going to die here with no way to escape. She got a chance before but she's afraid and her feelings for him didn't let her do it.
She'd accepted her fate. If there was someone who could support her then she wouldn't feel this way. Thinking of living a life without Vijay is hard for her to imagine and with this child, it would be even harder.
In this situation, what can she think other than surviving in this bizarre battle? Everyone has a struggle that they can't talk about. This is hers and talking about it only led to wanted problems.
She watched him thinking about all this. Her mind didn't stay in a single place. It kept going to all the extremes.Vijay turned his gaze to her. "What happened? Do you want to rest?" he asks.
"No,"
"Is there anything going on in there," he pointed her head?"
"No," she smiled.
"Really?"
"Yes," he nods as if he'd found that she's lying. Aarthi is scared to death to see his reaction.
"I'm telling the truth," she said to convince him."What? Did I say anything?" he asks.
"You look like you don't believe me," she says.
"Why do you over think everything?""It's a normal thinking," she said,
"Then?"
"Then what do you expect me to say now?" She shrugged.
"I asked you a question and you answered. Just leave it there. That's a good decision," he smiles in an absurd way, telling her that I know what you hide and I know all your secrets.
She knew expecting him to give her a reassurance was such a hard thing to get from him.
He never acts according to her wishes and likes. If he does then that day would be the end of the world. Even if it's the end of the world, then he wouldn't change himself a little bit.
She went to the hall and looked outside. It's going to rain and she can sense it with a smell. He looked at her and continued cooking even though she told him she'd cook, he wouldn't allow her. He's trying to keep her at ease but it only triggers her anxiety because when he acts too nice, then something is going to burst out.
She can't help but wonder how her child would be. Whether it will have her personality or Vijay's personality. She feels the child is going to be like Vijay. He had a strong influence on her and he would've even influenced his child already.
She sat in the doorway, feeling the fresh air on her face. Strangely Vijay hasn't talked about Sharath in the past days and she's so doubtful because of that.
"Come and talk to me," Vijay said as he felt so bored of this silence.Aarthi looked at him, it's so unlikely that he asks her this kind of request. She went and pulled a chair to sit next to him.
"Tell me, do you want to go somewhere?" he asks.
She was surprised to hear that."Will you take me there?"
"Yes, tell me where do you want to go?"
"I want to see ocean,"
"No,' he said and she frowned."Tell me somewhere close. We can't travel long at this time,"
"Anywhere calm and peaceful," she said.
"I will take you somewhere out for two days and you can eat whatever you wish to eat," he said, "Besides we never gone to honeymoon. We can use this chance,"She stared at him in surprise. Has something gotten into him? Why he's so good to me suddenly?
"Are you sure?" she asks.
"Yes, all I need is your permission,"
"My permission? Do you care about that?"
He smiles. "I don't but you're pregnant. I don't want to stress you out," he said."I'm happy to go anywhere with you," she smiled.
"And then do you want to meet anyone?" he asks.
"What?" her smile fades.
"Do you wish to see anyone?"
"No,"
"What about Sharath? Don't you want to see him? You can invite him to our house,"Just the mention of his name scared her. She doesn't understand why he all of a sudden brings him into this conversation.
It's not simple that he mentions him. It isn't right. She sensed it right away.
"No, why should we invite him?" she asks."So that you wouldn't do it behind my back," he said and her eyes widened and her heart stats to pound
This isn't right. This shouldn't have happened.
"You met Sharath, right?" she asks turning off the stove."No, I didn't,"
"Stop lying to me,"
Aarthi couldn't speak anymore and her eyes welled in tears."Don't say another lie," he came close to her.
"I have been so loyal to you and how can you do this?"
"I trusted you and told you everything but you must've told him, right?"
"No,""You must've," he snapped.
She had never seen him this much furious and it scared her to death.
"You always tried to escape and you're looking for a chance," he said, "I'm not going to believe anything you say from now on," he said and left the place.
Aarthi is on the verge of having a panic attack. She doesn't know how he found out. When did he get to know? And why he didn't ask her right away? How can someone act all normal and then suddenly switch into that psycho mode? The most important question is what he's going to do after this.
