"Hahaha!!"

The sounds of your giggles are heard from your room. You sit on your bed, dog in your lap, with Tobinomu by your side.

"And I brought this one, and this one, and this one...!" Tobinomu reaches into a huge bag and places seven bottles of colorful, sparkly nail polish onto your bed. "This one's your favorite color, right? It doesn't really serve any purpose for me, so I figured you should have it. And all the rest, too."

"I still don't understand why you feel the need to paint your nails when you can just change them at will with your quirk," you say.

"It's the joy of the process. And besides, they're fun to collect! All these are from overseas designer brands. This one's Dior, this one's Gucci, Chanel..."

"What?!" you gasp. "No way you've been doing our nails in luxury brands this whole time! I-I can't just take these, they're your prized possessions, aren't they?!"

"Speaking of," she continued, "I bought you this perfume set from that vintage American pop star from like, a hundred years ago - Billy Ailish. The Ailish perfume, since I know you wanted it."

"You actually got your hands on one of those?" you sigh. "And also, it's more like seventy years ago."

"Oh please, you're such a nerd," she giggles. "Of course you'd know. You love anything vintage, just like your mom."

"Don't say things like that," you pinch your nose bridge, suppressing a smile. "It makes me feel old... But seriously, I love you girl, but I can't just take all that!" You scratch behind Yuuri's ears. He seems content.

"No, I insist," she shakes her head. "I don't need the nail polish anymore, and I bought the perfume just for you. Just take it."

You chuckle, "How did you ever save up enough money to buy all that, though?"

Tobinomu suddenly stops, and you swallow. "Oh... Well, when dad passed a few years ago, I started collecting them with the money he left for me and... her..."

"Right, sorry... That's... A sensitive subject."

"It's fine, don't worry about it," she smiles stiffly and waves it off. "But please, just take the nail polish and perfume. It's... It's the least I can do... To thank you. For being there for me when he..." she trails off.

"... Alright, but please, you've been giving me a lot of your things lately. There's really no need for you to do all that, not even for me," you pat her back.

"... Can I talk to you about something?" she suddenly asks. "I know it's out of the blue, but-"

"Yes, of course!" you interrupt her. "Oh, s-sorry."

"It's fine," she exhales deeply. "So... It's about... My mother. You know that guy she was cheating on dad with before he died? I think... I think they're talking about getting married." You could hear the shakiness in her voice.

"Really? Oh gosh, that must be so hard on you..." you tentatively pull her into a soft hug.

She shakes in your arms, her sweaty palms forming fists, "I will never forgive that woman. How could she cheat on dad?! He was- He was amazing... He-..." She breaks down into sobs, breathing deeply. "And now she's marrying that man?! What's wrong with her?!"

"I know, it's not his fault, though. But your mom sounds awful," you feel a little bad since you actually like her mother quite a lot. But still. "Your dad was a hero, far more heroic than any of the so-called ones out here today. Even though he was just a police officer, he sacrificed his life to save those kids from that depraved man."

"... And he'd just beaten cancer, too..." she sniffled. She cracks a small smile, "... Testicular cancer, haha..."

You mirror her, smiling a little back, "A hero indeed. We all need a hero to stop the criminals. And we need a good lawyer to slam 'em in jail. That's how we met, after all."

"Yeah, your mom's a lawyer," she mumbles. "I'm so happy that she was the prosecutor. That disgusting criminal, who was a serial molester and child murderer and killed my dad, got the death sentence because of your mom. I'll never stop being thankful to her."

"But even though your dad's gone, that doesn't mean your mom is just replacing him, okay?"

"It feels like it..."

"I know, I know... I'm sure she hasn't forgotten him at least."

"... Thank you..." she wipes her tears and stands up. "I need to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back."

You nod and sit back on the bed, letting Yuuri back into your lap. He seems mildly concerned with Tobinomu's behavior, but immediately forgets when you start petting him again.

You wait a few minutes, which turned quickly into ten, then twenty. At twenty-five, you decide to go looking for her to make sure she is okay. Your parents aren't home as they are running errands, so if something happens it's up to you.

As you make your way through the house, you eventually find Tobinomu in the kitchen. You expected this, since it isn't her first time digging through snacks.

But today, she isn't digging through snacks. She is digging through something she definitely isn't supposed to be.

But then again, this still wasn't her first time doing that either.

You see three already-discarded bottles next to her as she works her way through a fourth. The scent of liquor is strong.

"Tobinomu-chan..." your eyes dance around the scene ahead of you. "... Again..."
