Starflight turned around suddenly.
"Hm?" he asked.
"You missed the scrolls, silly," Fatespeaker chuckled.
"Oops- I guess I kind of... forgot about them, you know?" Starflight shrugged with a smile.
Starflight took the bag of scrolls from Fatespeaker's talons, and walked off with a wave.
After a bit of walking and searching the walls for directions, Starflight arrived at the library.
Tsunami was at Starflight's desk, and Starflight heard her run over to him.
"Starflight, where have you been?" she asked frantically, with a hint of anger in her tone. "I was worried sick!"
"Wait- you took over my job as librarian?" Starflight asked.
"Well, yeah, Fatespeaker was gone too!" Tsunami shouted. "Sorry, I just... I was just concerned for you two. Mind explaining what happened?"
Starflight wasn't sure what to say. "We kind of... got lost."
Tsunami audibly sighed. "How did you both manage to get lost in a school you've both known for a while now?"
Starflight didn't know if he should tell the truth. So, he decided to tell a version of the truth.
"We found these separate tunnels from the classroom. They seemed to be in a weird location, so we decided to walk into them. Turns out, there were so many paths that it was easy for us to lose our way." Starflight explained.
"Where are they?" Tsunami asked.
"Fatespeaker said that the exit sealed behind us, so I'm actually not sure." Starflight admitted.
"Hrmm..." Tsunami grumbled. "Well, I'm glad you both are alright. Where's Fatespeaker? I'd like to talk with her if I can."
"She should be in her office," Starflight replied, taking his position back at the desk. He sighed when he felt the library cards scattered on the desk.
"I better let you handle that," Tsunami commented sheepishly. "Sorry if I messed something up, being a librarian isn't something I'm good at."
"It's fine," Starflight answered. He noticed Tsunami's talonsteps getting quieter, and he assumed she was going towards Fatespeaker's office.
He collected all of the library cards he found in his talons, and he began reading the raised dot language he had added to the cards.
"Snowdrop... Nightshade... Amaris..." Starflight began to read the names aloud, and sort the cards into their correct spot.
It felt like forever before he finished. It was an extremely tedious task, as there were a ton of students in the school. Starflight felt like he was going to fall asleep by the time he was done.
As soon as Starflight got up from his spot, he heard talonsteps approach the library. Multiple, in fact. Starflight listened as the few dragons had a conversation while walking in.
Hmm... that sounds like Fatespeaker, Tsunami, and... Sunny? What's Sunny doing here?
"Hi, Starflight." Fatespeaker greeted as she walked up to him. "I was just talking with Tsunami and Sunny."
"Starflight, are you alright?" Sunny asked quietly.
"Yes, I'm fine." Starflight assured her.
"Just checking," Sunny trailed off. Starflight heard her walk out of the library.
"That was weird," Fatespeaker muttered quietly to Starflight.
Starflight shrugged.
"Tsunami, is there anything I can help you with?" Starflight asked.
"Not really," Tsunami chuckled. "I'm just here because I have nothing else to do."
"Didn't Glory ask you if you could add another art class to the curriculum?" Starflight recalled.
"Oh yeah, she did! How did you remember that?" Tsunami questioned in awe.
"I'm... not sure." Starflight answered.
"Well, I better get going on that. See you two later!" Tsunami replied as she walked out of the library.
"Um, Starflight, can I stay here for a bit?" Fatespeaker asked once Tsunami left.
"Yes, of course you can." Starflight replied kindly.
Starflight heard Fatespeaker pick up a scroll, and unravel it.
"What are you reading, if I may ask?" Starflight questioned curiously.
"It's a scroll on ancient animus artifacts of the IceWing history." Fatespeaker explained. "I can't believe Queen Diamond tried to start a war with the NightWings with her animus gift." Fatespeaker shook her head. "Foeslayer didn't even do anything wrong. She just so happened to have an evil animus as her son."
Starflight walked over to her. "It's alright, Darkstalker is no more now. From what I hear, he's perfectly happy with his mother in the rainforest with the other NightWings."
Starflight felt Fatespeaker grab his talons. "I know, but isn't it kind of sad? How a NightWing was blamed for simply being... a mother?"
Starflight nodded. "It is. But, luckily, the new Queen of the IceWings is much better. Queen Snowfall already destroyed some of the animus gifts, even the one that caused IceWings to hate NightWings. Our hatred for each other is long gone."
"But is it, Starflight?" Fatespeaker asked. "You see how some of our IceWing and NightWing students fight with each other all the time. Isn't there something we can do?"
"Maybe there is..."
Starflight had to sit down and think for a second. Was there really a way to show the students that they didn't have to hate each other?
