The Darkest Time (Sequel to Love is War)

Chapter 6

They arrive at Berk around 4 hours later. When they land, it's dark and the Chief of Berk has passed out in front of Astrid. They all hop off there dragons and Valka comes to carry Hiccup. Astrid didn't carry him because he was too heavy, quite the opposite. He is really light, but she didn't carry him in fear that she would drop him from worry.

They head up to Gothi's hut- by they, it is Valka, Astrid, and Hiccup- and Gothi hurries over. She motions for Valka to put Hiccup and the bed and ushers the others out. 

Seconds turns into minutes. Minutes turn into hours. Hours pass when they can finally come in. They see Hiccup laying on the bed, pale covered with cuts and bruises. She doesn't like seeing him in pain.

They sit on either side of him and just sit in silence. They only thing they hear is the breathing of the abused man sleeping on the bed.

The two women end up falling asleep by his side, prying to the gods that he would recover.

A week has passed and Hiccup finally wakes up. Astrid was there by herself while Valka helped Gobber with the chief duties.

Astrid is deep in thought when she hears Hiccup groan in pain. Her head snapped up and she looks at him as he opens his eyes.

"Oh my gods, your okay!" She yells and wraps her arm around him. 

"Yea. Yea. Fine. Just a little sore. How long has it been since... you know."

"A week."

"A week? Really?"

"Yea. But I'm just happy your okay."

"Yea..."
