The walk from the library to the dorm was... uneventful.

Which, in Night Raven College terms, meant something was about to go wrong.

The sky had already begun to shift into a dull, heavy grey by the time they reached the edge of campus. The air changed first—less structured magic, more wild residual energy, like the land itself had been forgotten.

Then the building came into view.

Ramshackle Dorm.

It loomed at the end of the path like a thought someone had abandoned mid-construction.

Overgrown vines crawled up cracked stone walls.

Windows were boarded haphazardly, some nailed shut, others hanging loose like half-lidded eyes.

The roof sagged in places as if the structure had given up trying to stay upright long ago.

Even the wind sounded hesitant near it.

Y/n stopped walking.

"...That is a residence."

Crowley, completely unfazed, spread his arms dramatically.

Crowley: "Isn't it delightful?"

A pause.

Crowley: "Right, scoot inside now. There you go."

Y/n didn't move immediately.

Her eyes scanned the structure.

Structural instability.

Possible infestations.

Magical residue—weak, old, layered.

"...This was used as housing," she said.

Not a question.

Crowley nodded enthusiastically.

Crowley: "This should keep the elements at bay for the time being. Now, I should return to my research. Do try to find some way to busy yourself. But don't let me catch you wandering the campus! Ta!"

And just like that—

he was gone.

Y/n watched the empty path for a second longer than necessary.

"...Convenient timing," she murmured.

Grim, still collared, suddenly shivered violently.

"GWAH! IT'S POURING OUT HERE!"

As if summoned by complaint alone, rain began to fall.

Hard.

The sky opened like it had been waiting for permission.

Within seconds, Ramshackle's already-questionable roof began to demonstrate its many structural opinions about water resistance.

Drip.

Drip.

Drip-drip-drip—

Grim shrieked.

"BWHAHA! THAT LOOK ON YOUR FACE IS PRICELESS! LIKE A BAT THAT GOT BLASTED BY A WATER GUN!"

Y/n slowly turned her head toward him.

"...I am not a bat."

Grim ignored her.

"AS IF I'D JUST GIVE UP ON GETTIN' INTO THIS SCHOOL 'CAUSE I GOT KICKED OUT ONE MEASLY OL' TIME!"

He puffed up dramatically, shaking rain from his fur.
