The Party (21)

It was the next day, and Sonic was helping Tails decorate the place for Knuckles's surprise birthday party that Tails planned last minute.

"Got it!" Knuckles and I have a "movie night" planned" Tails said with quotation marks as he snickered to himself. "Great work buddy! Sorry I couldn't be much help until, well you know, last minute." Sonic chuckled as he rubbed the back of his head. "It's fine! What were you doing with Shadow anyway?" Tails asked as he smiled.
"Oh!"
"We talked for a while, actually we confessed..to each other." Sonic said as he turned his head away and eyed Tails's reaction. "I knew it!" Tails exclaimed and smiled widely. Sonic rolled his eyes with a smile and placed a hand on his hip. "It was so obvious with the way you two looked at each other, and the amount of time he would get close to you, defended you? Now that's a first for him. So how did it go?"

Sonic laughed and sighed dramatically. "Yeah, we both like each other, and we're dating. It feels weird though. Like I feel really corny." Tails laughed and patted Sonic's back. "Of course you do. Now help me set up. Is Shadow coming?" Tails asked Sonic as he moved the plastic cups closer to the fruit punch and the sodas. "Yeah, he is. I'm gonna tell Knuckles about us too. Although he might make it a big deal, as in yell out to absolutely everybody about Shadow and I." Sonic ran around the house to set up decorations before coming to a stop in front of Tails.

"It is a fast way to get the word across, and talking about getting the word across." Tails grabbed his returned laptop, he opened it and clicked on a video. "I saw on the news that a police officer was fired for accidentally leaking the evidence we gave them, it was the video we took of Amy and Eggman at the warehouse, and you confronting Amy." Tails crossed his arms. "I could hack my way to remove the video if that's what you want, and I read some comments people have left down below. Some are angry, of course, but majority of them are quite sympathetic if you want to read them." Tail's shrugged.

"Just delete the video. I'm tired of everyone on my business." Sonic chuckled as he began working on the food, running across the house to get what he needs. Tails nodded and watched the super sonic speed running hedgehog do multiple tasks at once.

Later throughout the day, all the guest invited began to arrive.
Shadow, Rouge, Silver, Blaze, Vector, Charmy, Tikal, Big, Espio, and Cream along with her mother, Vanilla Rabbit. Leaving the birthday boy left to make an appearance.

Sonic and Shadows down together, watching the place fill up with familiar faces. "Hey hun, I didn't expect you to come by. What changed your mind?" Rouge walked up to the sofa, sitting at the edge as she gazed at the two boys. "Sonic." Shadow looked at Sonic as Sonic looked at him, both gawking back at Rouge whose eyes widened slightly.
"Oh?" She smirked to herself.
"Congrats." Her voice lingered flirtatiously as she stood up dusting her bottom and confidently walking away.

"I don't think I ever thanked Silver for helping me, I'll be right back, 'kay?" Sonic stood up as he saw Shadow nodded.

"Hey man, it's so nice to see you out of work, it's a rare sight. Dude, thank you so much for what you did. I owe you one, big time." Sonic said as he reached out for a hug, Silver more than accepting and wrapping his arms around him as well. "No man, no need to thank me, I just wanted what was best for you, you don't owe me anything." Silver smiled softly as they both pulled away from the hug.

Meanwhile, Shadow watched Sonic from afar, every single detail about him. Perhaps he might've been slightly jealous, but he wouldn't accept it. He looked at the window, a moving red blur catching his attention. Knuckles was here. Shadow walked up Sonic and tapped him on the shoulder then pointed at the window. Sonic smiled excitedly and hissed at everyone to hide. As the lights went off, Shadow pulled Sonic towards as they hid crouched down behind the kitchen cabinets; Shadow didn't want Sonic to go with Silver unintentionally.

A few hours later into the party, most of the guests went outside, watching people swim by in the pool. Shadow and Sonic remained their distance from the water and only watched from afar, seated and pointing out, maybe even laughing at everyone near the pool getting splashed when people cannonballed inside. "Hey guys, why aren't you guys near the pool. You guys look so lonely here by yourselves." Knuckles walked over and crossed his arms. A sound of wings flapping soon being heard, seconds later appearing an alluring, seductive bat behind Knuckles.

She grabbed his hand and made him look at her mesmerizing blue eyes. "Baby, leave the boyfriends alone, clearly they want to be." Rouge smirked as she turned to the two sitting down in their little couches. Knuckles processed her sentence in her mind, soon widening his eyes. "BOYFR-" Rouge planted a kiss on the echidna's lips and pulled him away.

"Eh, he'll mention it later." Sonic shrugged and watched as Knuckles stood still on top of jump board, clearing his throat to grab everyone's attention.

"To me, and the boyfriends!" Knuckles turned to Sonic and Shadow and so did everyone else. Everyone cheered as he dove into the pool, causing a big splash and a joyous end of the day.
