"Ah, can you stop looking at her?" Inhyuk said, tired of his friend staring intently at Sol.
Sunjae sighed, his gaze still fixed on the volleyball court where Sol was playing with her usual energy and grace. Her laughter carried over to the stairs where the two boys sat, making Sunjae's heart race. "Sorry, I can't help it," Sunjae replied, tearing his eyes away from the game to look at Inhyuk.
Just as the two friends were talking, a stray volleyball flew out of nowhere and smacked sunjae square in the face. The impact knocked him off the stairs, and he landed with a thud on the ground, his hands instinctively clutching his face.
"Oh my gosh! Sunjae!" Sol shouted, rushing over from the court. Inhyuk jumped down the stairs to help his friend, who was now sitting up, his nose bleeding profusely. "Are you okay?" Inhyuk asked, his voice laced with concern. Sunjae groaned, the pain in his nose making his eyes water. "Yeah, I'm fine," he mumbled, though the blood streaming from his nose said otherwise. Sol reached them, her face a mask of worry. "I'm so sorry, Sunjae! ."
She knelt beside him, gently tilting his head back and pinching his nose to stop the bleeding. Sunjae's heart raced, not just from the pain but from her close proximity. He could smell the faint scent of her shampoo, feel the warmth of her hands.
"Just breathe through your mouth," she instructed, her touch soothing. "We need to get you some ice."
Sol took Sunjae to the sick room of the school to treat his wounds. Sunjae like a obedient puppy followed her.
Inhyuk looked at his friend, who just got out from the sick room shaking his head with a small smile. "Well, you wanted her attention, you sure got it now." Sunjae couldn't help but laugh, which made his nose hurt more, but he didn't mind. Sol's worried expression had softened into a smile, and he felt a strange sense of relief. Maybe this embarrassing incident was the push he needed.
As the sun set and the evening wore on, Sunjae finally made his way home. His nose was still a bit sore, but the ice cream and Sol's company had lifted his spirits. He opened the door to find his mother sitting on the sofa, a serious expression on her face.
"Sunjae, I want to talk," she said, her tone gentle but firm. "Okay, Mom," he replied, curious. He sat down on the sofa, facing her. "Sunjae, what do you think of pursuing music as your career?" she asked, her eyes searching his face for a reaction. Sunjae blinked, taken aback. "I never really thought about it," he admitted after a moment of contemplation. Music had always been a hobby, something he enjoyed in his spare time. He loved playing the guitar and singing, but he never thought of considering it as a serious career path.
His mother nodded, her expression thoughtful. "You have a lot of talent, Sunjae. I've seen how passionate you are when you play. I just want you to think about it. You don't have to decide right now, but give it some serious thought and let me know what you decide, And have you taken medicine for that nose, did you got hurt today?" Sunjae nodded. "Okay, Mom. I'll think about it, and yes I took medicine for my nose." With that, he stood up and headed to his room to freshen up. As he washed his face and changed into comfortable clothes, his mind buzzed with his mother's words. Could he really pursue music as a career? The idea was both exhilarating and daunting.
The next day, Sunjae decided to seek out Inhyuk for advice. He knew his friend had always been passionate about music and was already making strides toward a career in the industry. Sunjae walked to the local community center where Inhyuk's band often practiced. As he approached the building, he could hear the faint sounds of music drifting through the open windows. Sunjae entered the building and found Inhyuk, who was packing up his guitar after a practice session. Inhyuk looked up and grinned when he saw Sunjae.
"Hey, what's up? How's the nose?" Inhyuk asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Still sore, but I'm surviving," Sunjae replied with a chuckle. "Listen, can we talk? I need your advice on something." Inhyuk's curiosity piqued, he nodded. "Sure, let's head to the park. We can grab some snacks on the way." The two friends made their way to a small convenience store, picking up some snacks and drinks(juice, not alcohol) before walking to their favorite bench in the park. It was a quiet spot, shaded by a large tree, and they often came here to relax and talk.
Once they were settled, Sunjae took a deep breath. "So, my mom asked me something yesterday that got me thinking. She asked if I'd ever considered pursuing music as a career." Inhyuk's eyes widened with excitement. "Really? That's awesome! What did you say?"
"I told her I'd never really thought about it seriously before," Sunjae admitted. "But now, I can't stop thinking about it. You've always wanted to pursue music, right? How did you decide?"
Inhyuk leaned back, a thoughtful expression on his face. "For me, it was always clear. I love playing music, performing, creating something that resonates with people. It's not just a hobby—it's part of who I am. But it's not an easy path. You have to be ready for the ups and downs."
Sunjae nodded, absorbing his friend's words. "Do you think I could do it? I mean, seriously pursue music?" Inhyuk smiled widely. "Absolutely. You've got the talent, Sunjae. And more importantly, you've got the passion. I've always hoped you'd join my band. We would love to have someone like you in the band."
Sunjae's eyes lit up with a mix of excitement and nervousness. "Really? You think I'd fit in?"
"Definitely," Inhyuk said, his enthusiasm contagious.
