The first day of school is in three days. Enough time to unpack and look at the some chicks with the boys. Hopefully, they notice my awesome skateboard tricks I learned all summer long.
"Max quit day-dreaming and start unpacking or we will never leave the dorms. Hurry up!" shouted PJ as he unpacked his own things. " Yeah, PJ is right. All the hot babes will find a boyfriend till we leave the dorms," continued Bobby. I just scoffed but started hurrying up a little just for their sake.
Eventually, after less than half an hour, we left our dorm on our skateboards, Bobby on his skates, and started exploring the campus. It was quite a bit, with all these group homes and study halls. It also had a little park in the middle, where the couples hang out, so we avoided that part of the campus, just in case.
On our way, we passed the 'Gamma'-House, which was easy to notice, because of their big gamma sign above the front door. We made sure to do a couple of cool tricks while passing by, just so they knew who they are going to lose against.
We ended our journey at a small café in an alley near the campus. A couple of theater kids, I suppose, we're having fun there. They didn't pay us any attention, so we sat down at one of the tables in the middle of the café and started looking at the menu.
"Who is going to order?" I asked, looking at the menu. "Since you offered so nicely, we wouldn't mind you going. Right PJ?" mocked me Bobby. I really didn't want to go, but my friends just told me their wishes, gave me some money and send me on my merry way.
And so, now I am standing behind the counter, waiting for our free coffees. The waitress seems nice and she's really pretty, so I might ask her for her number later. I was still day-dreaming about getting her number when she gave me my order and sent me on my merry way.
Still with my head in the clouds, I turn around and bump into something and spill my coffee on it. Better yet, someone.
"Oh my god, I am so sorry, let me help-" "No, no, no. There's no need for that, really," interrupted me the man I bumped into. No, not a man. He looks more like a boy.
"I bet if you were on a skateboard, you wouldn't spill a drop," says the guy suddenly, making me feel weird in my stomach. Not bad-weird, but good-weird, which was confusing. But I didn't mind my stomach's outburst and instead, I laughed and answered: "You'd win that bet. I'm Max."
I stretched out my hand, ready to shake it, but to my surprise, the guy just said: " Bradley Uppercrust the III. A pleasure meeting you." I found it a little weird, if not rude that he didn't shake my hand, but I didn't comment on it. Maybe it is something people in college don't do anymore. Maybe shaking hands is not 'in' here.
"Would you like to join the Gammas?" said Bradley out of nowhere. I know I said we would crush them, but being inside one of the most successful skateboard teams in history is a one-time opportunity.
So without even thinking about it, I said:"Yes! Let me inform my friends about this first. Hey, PJ, Bobby, we will be in a-" "No, no, no. You see, we only have one opening. And we would like for you to join. Not them, you. You get me? So, what do you say," interrupts me Bradley again. He sure likes to interrupt people.
"What? Either it's all of us or none of me. I am not leaving them behind." How dare he even think I would leave my friends just like that. We will crush them, arrogant bastards.
We started to fight, verbally, when the mysterious girl that sat on the stage until now, helped us with the argument.
We make a deal, that whoever wins the X-race, will be the other one's towel boy. I cannot wait for him to be my towel boy.
"As you wish, Freshman," says Bradley angrily, as he leaves the café.
"Thanks for the help, girl." I thank the girl. I can see PJ and Bobby both oggling this girl like she's the last cheese on Earth. Bobby tries to make small talk with her, but she stops him immediately. Poor Bobby, he has no chance with her. I hope PJ has more luck.
We returned to our dorm nearly at midnight. We quickly changed our clothes and went to sleep. The day took its stall on PJ, and only after mere seconds I hear him snoring. Bobby started snoring a minute later.
All I want to do is sleep as well, but my mind keeps wandering back to the arrogant human I had the pleasure to meet today: Bradley. He was rude, arrogant, and a complete jerk, yet somehow I am sad I didn't make it on his team.
Confused and annoyed about these feelings, I put the thoughts away, awaiting my sleep.
The sleep comes but with it also some weird dreams.
