A/N: Just a heads up, I tend to forget warnings whenever something happens that might be triggering. If I didn't forget but still didn't add one, it's because I didn't realize it was a trigger. That whole system is a bit new to me as I'm not used to giving such warnings. Also, the word count in the end only includes how many words make up the actual chapter. Any words outside the mouse barrier are never included in the count.

Disclaimer: All characters in MHA do not belong to me. They belong to Horikoshi, I'm just borrowing them for a bit. All other characters belong to me though, but the only ones I'll claim will be me, myself, and I. And this guy named Shin (:

Also, Spoiler Warning for MHA. Hope you all are caught up to the current timeline of events ;)

TW: 1 mention of blood, and a really descriptive injury (which might mean gore, but idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

My family always used to say things happen for a reason.

At least, I think they did. The phrase feels very familiar to me, however I don't fully remember where I heard it.

I don't know what's going on, but I know something isn't right. I feel like I'm floating, and it doesn't feel like a dream. Whatever is going on, somehow I can feel myself speeding up. I can't scream. I can't think. I can't open my eyes.

I am vaguely aware of the cool air that suddenly washes over my body, as I feel myself being launched from whatever I was in previously. Then, I felt it. It was sharp, a burning sensation starting from the source and spreading all around my torso. I vaguely heard a thud and a sickening crack when it started, before a second thud that only worsened the burning sensation. I feel myself laying on something cold and hard.

Despite the burning sensation, I still can't scream.

I still can't think.

My eyes are able to open, but everything's a blur. Do I need glasses?

No, those are tears. I feel blood mixed with saliva dripping out of my mouth. There is a loud ringing in my ears, only serving to make understanding my situation more difficult. Beyond the ringing there are shouts, and I can see some of blurred figures are moving around. They seem panicky, but the burning sensation.. no, the pain makes it hard to know what's going on around me.

I feel a gentle touch grab my hand after a darker figure moved closer. Then my wrist is being squeezed. I'm alive, but my heartbeat is slow.

I can't scream, even as I become more aware to the pain. It hurts to breathe.

I can't think of anything else besides the pain. I am only vaguely aware of my surroundings.

I see darkness creeping into my vision, taking over my peripheral vision first, then I once again cannot see.

Is this what death looks like?
