I let my gaze drift over the open sea. The view was clear, and the beginning of summer brought many hours of sunshine. All the better, so I had less work to do. Last night was short and had left all of us somewhat unsettled. For various reasons.

Mingi seemed to have cooled down again and was banished by the captain to the storage rooms to tidy up. His kind of punishment for not being able to control his fire demon yesterday evening. A relatively mild consequence, considering what could have happened if Mingi had lost control and his demon had taken over.

He seemed to feel triggered by Aurora in some way. But no one knew exactly why. San hadn't been seen all day. That wasn't new since the last few days, as he seemed to be withdrawing at the moment. The suspicion was that it had something to do with Aurora.

Each of us had received an extra scolding from the captain last night. For various reasons. Mingi, obviously, because he couldn't control himself and his demon in Aurora's presence. San, because he had broken our code. Wooyoung, because he had a tendency to behave inappropriately in situations. Jongho and Yunho, because they hadn't intervened firmly enough. Seonghwa, because he let Aurora get too close to him, and me, because I had put the crew in a precarious situation and almost violated the code.

From my vantage point, I watched as Seonghwa relieved Yunho at the helm. Poor Yunho was pulling extra shifts again so that Seonghwa and the captain could enjoy some time alone, I assumed. Because from my vantage point, I had a better view of the deck's happenings than some might have liked, and so I had already observed several encounters between Seonghwa and the captain that suggested they occasionally shared a bed.

You couldn't blame them; here at sea, the nights could be quite lonely, and certain needs could be left unmet. The only remedy during shore leave was visits to brothels. For true feelings, however, there was no room. Unless you sought them in the same gender and ultimately found them there.

We still had several days of sailing ahead of us until we would drop off Aurora in Nerathia, the destination of our journey. The thought made me uneasy in the pit of my stomach. Even though I hadn't known her for long, she had captivated me from the first moment. I didn't know what it was, but every time I was near her, I felt good and complete. She made me nervous, yet she gave me the feeling that I had to protect her.

However, I questioned the sense of it all. We only had a few days left until we had to say goodbye. Keeping her at arm's length seemed like the more sensible decision to me. However, my heart longed for something else, but in doing so, I risked that it would end up broken in the end. I sighed frustratedly and leaned against the mast. Perhaps I should urgently talk to someone. In such cases, I liked to talk to Wooyoung; he was a good listener and often found the right words. However, he didn't seem particularly impartial to me when it came to Aurora.

I closed my eyes and drifted in thought to our conversation in her room. She had been too agitated last night for me to take advantage of the situation. However, her presence made it even harder for me to exercise restraint. I could practically sink into her ice-blue eyes. But even though it had been difficult for me last night, it had been the right decision. Yet, I wanted to know what her lips would feel like on mine and how her delicate body would move under mine. Fuck.

I opened my eyes again and saw her coming up on deck at that moment. She had changed her clothes, and she looked ridiculously hot in her new outfit. Double Fuck. I bet Seonghwa had a hand in it. Her dark brown hair glistened in the sunlight, and the red velvet headband shimmered between her strands, which the wind was blowing through quite vigorously.

The black culottes and off-shoulder blouse elegantly hugged her beautiful body. The brown corset perfectly accentuated her slim waist and skillfully showcased her small titts. What I wouldn't do to see her up close now. Maybe it's for the best, I thought. If I could barely control myself from several meters away, what would it be like if I were standing right in front of her?
