The next morning, you all were gathered around the dining table for breakfast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the scent of toast and eggs.
You were trying to keep a stoic face after the unexpected events of the previous night, but Mikey seemed to have other plans.
He sat across from you, a mischievous glint in his eyes, clearly enjoying your discomfort.
As you took a sip of your coffee, Mikey leaned forward slightly, a playful smirk on his lips. "Did you sleep well?" he asked, his tone light and teasing.
You fought to maintain your composure, focusing intently on your plate. "Yes, I did. And you?" you replied, keeping your voice as even as possible.
Mikey's smirk widened. "Oh, I slept great. Best sleep I've had in a while."
You could feel your cheeks heating up, but you refused to let him see you flustered. Across the table, Rindou and Ran were deep in conversation about an upcoming event, while Sanzu and Koko debated the best strategy for a new mission.
Takeomi was discussing logistics with Kakucho and Mochi, leaving Iris to quietly observe the dynamics of the group.
Mikey continued to watch you, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Pass the sugar, would u?" he asked, not quite meeting your eyes.
"Sure," you replied, reaching for the sugar bowl and handing it to him. Your fingers brushed against his, and you both paused for a moment.
Mikey's touch was warm, and he took his time taking the sugar from you.
"Thanks," he said softly, his voice almost a whisper. He glanced up, and for a brief moment, your eyes met. The intensity of his gaze made your breath catch, and you quickly looked away, focusing on your plate instead.
You took another sip of your coffee, trying to calm your racing heart. Mikey seemed to notice your nervousness and leaned back in his chair, looking entirely too pleased with himself.
"Did you have any interesting dreams?" he asked, his tone still teasing.
You nearly choked on your coffee, quickly setting the cup down and glaring at him. "No, not really," you said curtly, trying to keep your voice steady.
Mikey chuckled, clearly enjoying your reaction. "That's too bad. I had a pretty memorable one."
