I was so deep in thought, I barely registered the sound of the car coming to a stop. It wasn’t until I heard Alexander’s voice—calm, steady, that I was pulled out of my spiral.
“Let’s go,” he said, his tone soft but expectant.
Only then did I realize… we had arrived. Home.
Home… That word sounded so foreign. So unreal.
Yes, technically this was going to be my house now. I’d live here until I turned eighteen—two years from now, not that I was counting. But calling it my house felt too intimate. Too fast. Too unreal.
Still, the second I stepped outside the car, my breath caught in my throat.
“This is not a house,” I whispered to myself. “This is a freaking mansion.”
Massive wrought iron gates. Marble pathways. Tall trees neatly aligned on either side. Stone walls laced with vines. The kind of place you'd see in a historical drama—only this wasn’t TV. This was real.
And it was mine, apparently.
I turned in place, taking in the full view, and just let myself stare for a second longer.
“Do you like it?” Alexander asked behind me, his tone amused.
I spun back to him, blinking.
“It’s… it’s beautiful. Seriously. Like too beautiful,” I replied.
He chuckled softly. I wasn’t sure if it was pride or relief.
As we entered the estate, I noticed the rows of men lining the entrance—tall, built, serious faces, all wearing black.
Bodyguards?
So yeah… they were definitely rich. But this was beyond rich. This was mafia money.
I narrowed my eyes slightly. Something about the structure of the house, the discipline of the guards, the security layout… It wasn’t normal.
What do they do for a living exactly?
We stepped into the main hall, and my jaw dropped all over again.
High ceilings, chandeliers that looked like they cost more than my old house, velvet drapes, marble floors. Everything was grand. Opulent. Powerful.
“Boys, we’re home,” Alexander called out, his voice echoing through the vast space.
And just like that, the silence was broken by thunderous footsteps.
Three boys appeared at the top of the staircase. Two of them looked exactly alike—twins, no doubt—and the third looked like he could be just a year or so older than me.
“Gosh, she’s too pretty,” one of the twins blurted, eyes wide.
“Yup, and too tiny,” the other boy said, sizing me up like I was some kind of puppy.
“Introduce yourselves,” Alexander ordered.
The twin with the chaotic energy stepped forward first. “Hi, Sorella! I’m Xavier, 18 years old, officially the funniest and coolest brother in this house. The rest of them are just ancient and boring,” he grinned, nudging his lookalike.
“Xander. 18,” the other twin said flatly. “Can I go now if this bullshit’s over?”
Oof. Okay, moody much?
“Xander! Behave yourself,” Alexander snapped, his voice like steel.
“Sorry, Sorella. He’s just moody. Ignore him,” Xavier said quickly, shooting me a playful wink. “Anyway! I’m Ethan. Your soon-to-be favorite brother. Seventeen, charming, and irresistible.”
