Age-less Affections

it was an honor !

Since the mission was over Maeve was now just staying guard of the village
She is a capitan but hut her team has been sent on different missions so she's just staying guard
After two hours of going around on her anbu outfit Maeve sees the nara father and son duo walking fast to the hokage
The older nara seems a bit angry while the other nara is trying to explain something to him
Then she sees the hokage who is signaling her to his office
She goes in and sees shikadai looking at his feets while shikamaru and naruto look at her serious
"Is everything okay , sir?" She questions
"As a matter of fact, it's not , you see shikamaru just came in my office and told me that the mission was almost doomed if it weren't for shikamaru " naruto says not taking his eyes from Maeve
She realised that shikadai might have said something to shikamaru and one thing lead to another and she was here
"Why didn't you tell us about it?" Naruto questions
"I didn't see it necessary sir , you know I can deal with the missions you give to ne in my own way " Maeve says not moving an inch
"Well I'm afraid that this was the last one as an anbu for you !" He says and Maeve and shikadai are looking at him with their mouth open wide
"Wait , you don't have to stop her from being an anbu , she didn't do anything wrong , I probably wouldn't have even seen the shuriken if it wasn't for the light , come on it is just a small mistake , she doesn't hav..." shikadai tries to reason
"Shikadai , this is not your place to speak " shikamaru says to him
"But dad..." he tries again
"Shikadai , I'm not taking Maeve off the anbu lead only because of a mistake she made , I think she really needs a break from all this missions , tell me, when was the last time you sleept for more then 3 hours?" He questions Maeve
"It was an honor serving you sir " Maeve says and takes off her mask and turning the opposite direction of shikadai
Then she walks out
Maeve doesn't blame shikadai though , she knows he didn't do anything wrong , she also knew that the more missions she was doing as an anbu and as shadow , more was she walking towards the dark and naruto wouldn't want that to happen again
aeve was walking around the village without a care on who was seeing her and if they thought she was new
It had been five years , they wouldn't remember her
She keeps walking till she reached the thunder burger
She goes in and to almost Noone surprise boruto is in there

What she was wearing not that she doesn't have the anbu uniform or the jonin one

Her  hair is still this way
She sits on a different table facing boruto and seeing him from time to times
"There's something familiar about her " he tells mitsuki and then gets up
He goes to her and takes a seat
"Hey there , I'm boruto Uzumaki,  nice to meet you" he says holding his hand infront of her but she just looks at him so he retreats it
"I've never seen you around , are you new ?" He asks her
"Could you get up from my table now?" Maeve says and boruto immediately recognizes the voice
"HUHHHH , it's you,  shadow , the anbu , how come you're not on your mask and outfit? " he yells
"Got fired " she says taking a bite
"I'm sorry what?" He says and looks at her
But she continues to eat looking at him back when he smirks
"So it doesn't have ti do with skills after all huh?" He says
"Fire style..." Maeve says and boruto gets up immediately
"Okay okay , cool down I'm just joking jeez " he says looking at her
"So really fired huhhh , what was the reason ?" He questions
"Uhh your friend snitched about seeing me when on mission so ,fired !" Maeve says
She doesn't want them to know the real reason just yet so she just tells him part of it
After that she goes home and sits on her bed when a really relaxing sleep takes over her
