I stare up at my poké ball from the back of the moving truck and I think about when I got her...
I'm going to get my first Pokémon today I can't wait! I wonder what my affinity is! I can't believe I'm 14! I wish Unova was more like the other regions with there 11 year old Pokemon trainers...
Maybe I'll be a dragon trainer like Champion Iris! Or a flying type trainer like Skyla!
I can't wait! I walk into the Pokémon professor's lab and I see one of my favorite professors "Professor Juniper!?" I exclaim excitedly "the one and only, sweetie" she says a bit smugly "I'm a big fan of your research! I can't believe I'm getting my first partner Pokemon from you!" I say excitedly as a new person walks in "Hi you must be the new trainer! I'm Bianca, it's really nice to meet you I remember the day I first got my starter like it was yesterday" I listen nodding my head to her, some may say she's over eccentric but I do the same sometimes. She leads me out into a garden area with Pokémon lined up and then she says "I'll let you borrow this Pokédex instead of giving it to you since I know that you're going to move to Galar in a few days and I know they don't use these more traditional pokédexes but instead have an app on their phones"
I nod taking the Pokédex and looking over them but none of them seem to be a Pokémon with my affinity type "Ms. Bianca I don't think I have an affinity with any of these Pokémon" I say nervous "Don't be silly everyone has an aff-" she pauses for a minute like she just realized something "One second please" she runs of somewhere in the enclosure and it looks like I'll be waiting a while so I lay in the grass as the Pokémon who were once in a straight line ready to get their trainer start leaving and playing with their friends.
I start humming a song waiting patiently for Bianca to come back. A little Pokémon runs around me over and over again so a sit up "you okay little buddy?" I ask the little Pokemon confused "Ha-ta-tenn!" It replies as it tries to hit me "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, you don't like being called little I get it, what were you doing?" The little Pokém— no — the suuuuuper strong pokemon points with its pointy hat thingy at the borrowed Pokédex so I point it at the Pokémon and it says in a robotic female voice "If this Pokémon senses a strong emotion, it will run away as fast as it can. It prefers areas without people" it seems to get excited when the Pokédex calls it fast "so you want to be a really fast pokemon?" I question already knowing the answer "Ten-ten!" The Pokemon jumps up and down excitedly. I look at the Pokédex more mumbling things "so your name is Hatenna... your species is all female so you're a girl... oh I found your stats! 11 in speed I think that's good right?" I look at Hatenna and then I hear from in front of me Bianca saying "There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you" She looks at Hatenna with her hands on her hips and then she turns to me "and you, you should've yelled that you found your partner!"
"M-MY PARTNER!?" I look back at Hattena as it looked back up at me "you're my partner?" "Hat-enna-hat?" We say in unison and then we giggle a bit "so what's my affinity then?"
I look at Bianca and she's holding out a heal ball in front of me "Psychic"
I come back to reality and I open the poké ball "Hat-te-ten!" My Pokémon stares up at me confused "come here" I say and they come and cuddle with me
