The three were running, and they've been running for an hour now. Not only from the walkers who were in one big group, but from familiar bad people, people from BrightWood.
Who came back for Evie.
Daryl was in front, maybe two inches away from the girls, but they were close enough not to lose sight of him, he led the way for escape as Rin and Evie occasionally throw shots at both the walkers and the BrightWood group.
"Come on! Forget 'bout 'em! Just keep runnin'!" Daryl shouted.
"I'm holding back on purpose!" Evie shouted back.
"Don't!" Rin said as she was next to Evie, "Just run, I'll stop if you do!"
Evie managed a nod and kept running, catching up to Daryl. They heard shouting and yelling for Evie to stop behind them. The group was also running from the herd.
Evie didn't want to go back to them. Yeah, they helped her and her family, but she didn't like the cannibals there. Who knew what the Barnarians were capable of when one of the communities went against even one rule.
While on the walk to find food and a new place to camp, Evie had told the Dixon's what it was like living in that community. Daryl honestly couldn't agree more with Evie's choice of leaving them.
But look where that got them.
As Daryl was running, he could see a road not too far now. Maybe they could find a car to hijack.
Then, an idea popped into Daryl's head. He looked back at the girls as he kept running, shouting for them to turn and find somewhere to hide, the Barbarians were far enough for them to be clueless but not long enough to not find them soon.
Rin and Evie did as told and watched as Daryl led the group and the walkers to the road. Rin was worried if Daryl could be caught or dead by the Bararians or the walkers.
That worry stayed for a few minutes until Daryl showed up, walking back and panting. All the worries went away as Rin ran to him and hugged him tightly.
"Dad for fuck sakes..."
Daryl let out a breathy chuckle as he hugs Rin back, "Come, they'll be back soon, let's go."
Rin and Evie followed, they walk next to the road so they wouldn't be seen by the group of cannibals or the dead.
"Dad."
Daryl let out a grunt, making Evie chuckle, and Rin smiled.
"How long until they get back? Ya said they'd be back?"
"Don't worry 'bout it hun, just focus on findin' a place to settle and some food to find." Daryl said.
"But we've been at it for two days. We hadn't found anything so far. We'll starve to death." Evie said.
Rin groans, "Come on ya negative Nancy! We've been through worse than worryin' 'bout starvin'." Rin said, catching up to Daryl, "Just worry 'bout yer human eatin' group."
This caused Daryl to laugh, Rin really had a weird way with words and consoling people, she definitely gotten that from him.
Rin smiled as she made her father laugh. It was somewhat rare for a sight like that to happen.
In the back, Evie walked slowly, not too slow to lose Rin and Daryl though, she just kept thinking if she should even bother with BrightWood again, but why? They took care of her and her brother and father. They could've been killed and turned into meals but they took them in.
They took her in and here she was running away with people who killed them or led them to death.
Was this worth it?
