~ NY Condo ~
the next day."something's not adding up." i sighed to myself while reading through the papers. based on the files and the little bit that onika told me, there's no way she didn't have a partner. one small girl couldn't have taken down a number of men alone.
even if she did have a partner, which i know she did, that's two small women. the amount of missing guy reports with the same reason of death, is insane. that means they were victims of the two.
my next move is to go around town where she once lived and ask questions. hopefully i can find some more information. i'm gonna get her out. no matter how hard she makes it, she'll be seeing the light of day soon.
i looked through the pictures that were captured from video cameras and wrote down the different locations. there were really only three that mattered.
a strip club, a hotel and a corner store.
the strip clubs location seemed to have video tapings of the victims departure. next was always the hotel...where tapings of her leaving alone were filmed, getting into another car. lastly, the corner store.
i gathered my things, heading out of my condo. it's been eight years, i highly doubt if anyone would remember her face, but there's always hope. her case was all over television, so i'm sure it can't be that hard to remember.
it's just crazy that only her face is found and was investigated. clearly the videos show that she's not alone. how they didn't catch the other girl is a mystery to me.
seems like she fell off the face of the earth.
i walked through the streets of New York, keeping a close eye out for the name of the club. it was hard being that there were so many people walking around. but when i did find it, i felt a burst of energy run through me.
honest truly, i love my job. everything about it brings me joy. even when i have to hear the most fucked up stories ever.
entering the club was like going through a weed bomb. i would hope the police were nowhere near or this place is going down.
the way things looked, i didn't fit in at all. they looked at me as a threat because of my choice of clothing. i gave a nervous chuckle. the group of guys sitting in the front eyed me harder than onika did in the meeting room.
"hi...um..." i pulled my badge from my pocket. i'm so glad to be licensed in multiple law areas. being a lawyer is just a boost. my badge put some fear into them, they started to put their blunts out, straighten their posture. "i'm not here for anything like that. the weed doesn't bother me so i won't bother you. i just have a couple of questions. if you don't mind."
i was cautious. i'm a woman and they could make a move at any second. there's no way i would win so i kept my hands up, moving towards an empty chair in their circle.
"some questions about what?"
"just a few people. that's all. no one will be in trouble or anything like that."
"ight. gon head." one of the guys sparked his blunt back and relaxed in his seat. i pulled the folder from my book bag, going through it until i saw the pictures.
