I may not get a medal
For every achievement I earn.
But if I did
Their weight would make me kneel in pride.Take a year from my life
Pick it to pieces
And I will show you
Every win
Every joy
Every good day spent.I cannot offer you a number of medals.
I cannot tell you my every achievement.
But I feel it in myself
A growing lightness
A nurturing eagerness
An easier smile. My medals do not hang around my neck
They live in my heart
And swell with happiness.I wish I could step back in time
And show myself how far I will go.
