It's okay. I won't hurt you

That's what every man in my life has said, yet not one of them has kept that promise

We stand there for a moment in silence.

"So," Dream starts, "What are you doing out here all alone, shouldn't you be celebrating your independence?"

"Nothing," I felt myself breaking, tears threatening to come, but I couldn't and wouldn't cry in front of this man.

"Nothing...it doesn't seem like nothing," He says tilting his head.

"Well it's none of your business," my voice cracked.

"Even when your about to cry you're still stubborn," He chuckles,

"God this is so stupid," I say, wiping the tears from my eyes.

He walks up towards me, reaching a hand to touch my face. I flinched, he stopped.

"It's okay. I won't hurt you," He reassures.

"That's what every man in my life has said, yet not one of them has kept that promise," I sniffled.

He stops not knowing what to say. Yet he knew exactly what to say.

"I'm sorry," He says

"What? Why are you apologizing?" I ask.

"You seem like you've been through a lot," He says.

"More than you understand," I breathlessly laugh.

"So help me," I cock an eyebrow, "To understand."

"Is this your past time Dream, trying to help and fix girls with problems," I snapped.

He placed his hands on my shoulders, I didn't flinch this time, this time it felt comforting.

"You're not like any girl I've met before," Dream expressed.

I'm speechless, this man who kidnapped me, is comforting me.

"Oh yeah," I sniffle, tears flowing a lot faster.

"Yeah," Then he leaned down and kissed me, my body ached for it.

My body melted into his, lips forming together. Forged with comfort and passion. He pulled away and whipped the tears from my face.

My head lowered remembering my first kiss and how that ended up. Dream placed his finger under my chin lifting it up so I was looking into his eyes.

"Look at me, princess. You're going to be alright." He says, pulling me into a hug, as I weep into his chest. He pressed a kiss into the top of my head.

"Why are you doing this," I ask looking up at him.

"Despite what you all think of me, I'm not a monster," He explains, "Also you intrigue me."

"Oh really?" I tease.

"Yes, for one you're beautiful, and you're also ruthless. I mean you kicked Punz in the balls!" Dream laughed.

We laughed, holding each other. I knew it wouldn't last until tomorrow we would be enemies again, but it was comforting to have it. I would have to face Wilbur, and everytime I looked at Dream I would remember this night we shared. The kiss we shared.

We walked back to L'Manburg everyone had gone to sleep, so I snuck in giving Dream a quick kiss goodbye. My eyes fluttered shut.

The weeks after dragged along, Wilbur never apologized or even mentioned what had happened. I assumed he was too drunk to remember. Ever since we had gained independence Wilbur was always wrapped up in his work, trying to make L'Manburg better. So, he decided to host an election, him running with Tommy along with a new man who had entered L'Manburg just out of spite of Wilbur and Tommy.
