Chapter 7 - Reunited

I woke up to screaming and running, instinctually I went into a corner of the cave where I could be out of sight but what was going on inside the cave, a boy ran into the cave before tripping and landing on his face, he stood up turned around and proceeded to scream at the top of his lungs while up next to the wall, since the cave was dark but quite small.

The 6 careers then proceeded to walk in and shined their lights on the boy, who I noticed was Stephen, the 15-year-old from 10, "Why were they hunting him and not the others," I thought, Stephen continued to scream until Adonis shot him at close range with his bow, which sounded his cannon off.

He fell onto the floor, dead, still with a scared look on his face, Ruby then processed to search his body for anything, but found nothing but a flashlight and a hand axe, Paladin said they didn't need the axe and to throw it away and do the same for the light and to just take the batteries, she then threw the axe, right next to my head, missing by a few inches to my right, I cringed shocked that it had almost hit my head if she had thrown it a little more to her right, I would have been a goner.

They left laughing, Ruby throwing the light in my direction, but didn't have any batteries, taking Stephen's corpse out of the cave so the hovercrafts could take him, I immediately grabbed the hand axe from the wall, I already had one, but why only have one hand axe? 

I left the cave at around 8:00 AM according to the watch and decided to look for Laura, I knew she was still alive since her face wasn't on the Fallen, so I just started to wander the arena for the next few hours.

It was noon when I finally made some progress when I heard a girl screaming in the distance, I knew from the screams that it was Laura, and I immediately bolted in the direction of the screams, not even considering that it may have been a trap, I ran into a clearing, I didn't see her.

"LAURA!!" I yelled, still wondering if she was alive or dead.
"HICKORY!!" Laura yelled back, I heard from my left, I turned to my left with precision and shone my light in that direction
"Laura?!" I yelled back, and she came running out of the woods with Alissa chasing after her with a machete, Laura was clutching onto a backpack, that she must have taken.

Without any hesitation I grabbed the hatchet from my bag, and threw it onto her thigh, making her fall to the ground screaming, I grabbed my hand axe and buried the axe into her neck over and over and over again until she was fully decapitated, as her cannon sounded, I put my hand axe into my jacket, and latching the hatchet onto my bag.

"What did you do?" I let out with hardly any breath left
"What?" She replies 
"What did you do, to make come after you?" I ask again
"Stole her supplies, like two sleeping bags, and this bag full of supplies" She admits 
"You have a weapon?" I ask
"No, just a small dagger," She says
"Here, take this, the careers almost killed me with this," I say handing her the hand axe that Stephen had.
"Thank you, Hickory, I needed a weapon badly," She said
"Don't mention it, oh, and here's a flashlight, you got batteries?" I ask
"Yeah, stole them," She said
"Well put them into the light, so it will work, Ruby emptied it when the careers killed Stephen," I say she laughs before she puts a few batteries in the light.
"And they spared you?" She asked shocked
"As if! I was in a corner of the cave when they killed Stephen." I said, looking around 
"Let's get back to the cave before the careers get here," I said, grabbing her hand and leading her back to the cave I stayed at earlier.

As we entered the cave at 2:00 PM she opened the backpack she had pulled out the two sleeping bags she mentioned earlier and laid them down, so we could sleep easier later at night.
