DANIEL'S POV
I sat in the back of my science class as my teacher, Ms. Malone, explained the next unit. And then, she dropped a project on us.
"You will need to create a poster board telling me the basics about physics and show examples." She said, "With partners." I rolled my eyes, how cliché.
Johnny and I had no friends in this class. We sat beside each other, not speaking.
"Go ahead, get in your groups!" Our teacher said giddily. Johnny stared at the desk in front of him. We shared a long table.
This was my chance! The universe really was on my side.
I laid a hand on his knee, "You alright?" I asked him. He still didn't look up but slightly shivered at my touch. I rubbed his knee.
"I'm fine!" He said, pushing off my hand and crossing his arms. I put my hands up in surrender.
"Do you want to be partners in this project?" I asked him, looking at his plump lips.
"Do I have a choice?" He said, holding back a laugh
"No.. not really." I responded, looking around the room at every one already in groups.
"When are you free?" Johnny asked me, I thought for a moment.
"Like, every day. I don't go anywhere after practice."
"How about we just start working on it tomorrow? I want this shit done before the homecoming game." Johnny said.
"Sounds good." I said, grinning. I licked my lips as I stared at him. Honestly, I would kiss him right now if I could. His attitude wasn't the best, but damn was he hot.
...
Practice came and went that day. Though our big game was underway, coach told us we needed a break. And I agree. We've been pretty overworked.
Johnny and I hopped into our individual cars and I followed him to his house.
When I told my mom, she wasn't too keen on the idea of me being by myself with Johnny. I've told her about all the times he's hurt me. I tried to tell her I was safe because of what coach said, but she told me to call her every hour.
A David Bowie song blared on the radio, Let's Dance. As I followed Johnny's Yamaha motorcycle in my Audi Quattro.
I felt like nothing compared to Johnny Lawrence. I don't know why I even thought for a second he liked me back. He must have rode with a lot of different girls on that bike.
I snapped myself out of my trance and focused on the road. One of my hands lay limp to the side. I sighed heavily.
Johnnys hair whipped in the wind. He refused to wear a helmet. His biker jacket was tight around his arms. The highway was nearly empty since most people were still at their 9 to 5.
Johnny sped up and got onto pearl road. Soon after, he pulled into a driveway.
I took my keys out the ignition and waited for Johnny to return from putting his bike in the garage.
He tapped his knuckles on the door. I heard barking on the other side.
"Oh Johnny you never told me you had a dog!" I said excitedly.
He looked at me and I saw a small smile on his face, but it quickly disappeared as his mom opened the door.
His dog poked its head out, it was a Bernese mountain dog.
"Hi sweet cheeks!" Johnnys mother, who had matching blonde hair, kissed his forehead. Her hair was down to the middle of her back. They had a lot of similar features except that she had a few wrinkles.
"And you must be her for the project." She said, smiling at me. Their smiles were the same too.
"Yeah. It's nice to meet your Mrs. Lawrence. I'm Daniel." I said, reaching my hand out and putting on the most professional voice possible.
"Oh hun, you're so kind." She told me, putting her free hand on top of mine.
"Johnny why don't you bring more friends like Daniel around?" She asked him, as he per the dog. No response came from Johnny.
"Well you two have fun. Would you like to stay for dinner, Daniel?" Mrs. Lawrence asked me.
"Maybe I will." I said , knowing my mother wouldn't let me. Johnny squinted at me.
His mother sent us upstairs to get to work...
JOHNNY'S POV:
Daniel stayed on my heels as we walked into my room. I had cleaned up the day before he came over. Not that I like him or anything, but I at least got to have a clean space.
"Not what I was expecting from you." Daniel said, looking around the room at the posters on the wall.
"What did you expect?" I asked him, pulling out my notes from our numerous science classes. I ended up on the page about physics.
"I don't know. I thought there'd be like half naked girls on your wall. like in the movies." Daniel said, sitting beside me. I gagged.
"Absolutely not. Did you even meet my mother down there? I would be in my grave." I said, shaking my head . "Only movie posters."
Daniel smiled, kicking off his sneakers and laying in the same position as me. We began our ideal layout of the poster board.
"I can go out and buy a legit poster board tomorrow and bring it over." Daniel piped up. I nodded my head, lost in the information. We sat in silence for a minute. Daniel picked at the skin around his fingers and toyed with his hair.
"Jesus, Johnny." Daniel said, looking over at the work I had already done. He probably thought I was a nerd.
"You really do want this done." Daniel said, resting his arm around me. "Mrs. Malone said we had about a week to finish it."
"Yeah... well we just need the poster board now. I'll let you work on that." I told him, looking at my chicken scratch handwriting. Daniel nodded and chuckled.
He looked at me and smiled, his dark hair covering parts of his tanned face. My stomach erupted into butterflies. I stared into his doe eyes. I wanted to lean over and kiss him.
It was quiet around us, a perfect opportunity. His eyes flickered down to my lips and back up to me. I leaned in and—-
"BOYS! DINNER!" shouted my mom.
