The warm sunrays peeped through the gaps between the blinds, falling straight on his closed eyes. He woke up from his peaceful slumber, and the very first thing he did was try to pull her closer to his chest. But his eyes flew open when he felt the bed beside him empty.
He frowned, blinking his eyes to clear his vision. He slid his palm on the place beside him, which was cold, indicating she had woken up a while ago. Lifting his head off the pillow, he scanned the room but frowned more, not finding her around, which made him uneasy.
He got up immediately, throwing the duvet off his body, briefly looking around once again before making his way to the bathroom with no second thoughts.
He pushed the door open, brows furrowed as he glanced around, but she wasn't inside. Even though he didn't hear any noisss, he still checked the shower room, which was empty. Exiting the bathroom, he checked the balcony, but it was also empty, which left him perplexed.
His heart rate accelerated suddenly. A weird kind of uneasiness emerged in his heart, not finding her beside him after waking up. He didn't like... no, he hated the thought of waking up to an empty bed. Where did she go?
He went out of the room and checked the whole floor, but she wasn't there. His patience started leaving his body as he grew exceptionally desperate to see her in front of his eyes. Couldn't she wait for him to wake up?
"Y/n!" he called a bit louder while descending the stairs in a hurry and went straight to the dining area.
"Did you see Y/n?" he asked a maid who was mopping the table there. The lady shook her head. He looked at the kitchen and went inside just to see it empty.
He huffed out a breath and rushed towards the garden, looking around the house on his way. He searched the whole backyard, asked the gardener, but couldn't find her there.
He paused to catch his breath as his forehead started sweating due to running in the morning rays. His features twisted into a deep scowl as he grunted in frustration. Anger started building up inside him as he straightened his back and looked around the large green space.
Where the heck did she go, leaving him alone? After dinner, they slept together last night, and he even hugged her to sleep and didn't distance himself like every day. They were fine. His breath stopped as a thought crossed his mind, and her questions from last night rang in his ears. Fine... were they? Was he being too harsh on her? She was trying, but he wasn't acknowledging her efforts even a little bit. Did she leave, having had enough of him?
He shook his head at those ridiculous thoughts. She could never leave. Not this early without him knowing anything. She must be somewhere around. He didn't check the swimming pool area. Thinking she might have gone there, he went there only to find it empty.
"Where the heck are you, Y/n?" he muttered through his tightly clenched teeth, still holding onto the last ounce of his patience. He dashed back inside the mansion, yelling her name, making all the maids alert with his deep growling voice. He gathered every staff member that was left in the house as he had fired most of the people just yesterday.
"Where's Y/n? Go and find her," he ordered gruffly.
Everyone nodded and started searching here and there along with him. They checked around every corner of the house, corridors, and every room but couldn't find her.One of the maids came back running to him, face frightened as his sharp gaze met hers, and she immediately looked at the floor, bowing to him.
"We searched the whole house. She is not here, Mr. Kim." Hearing that, his expressions hardened more, but inside, he was anxious, worried, and even afraid. Did she leave him without leaving any note because of his behavior? Was she tired of trying now? Did she give up on him? S-so soon..
