(Un)Fortunate
Chapter 5: Garden of Flowers.
A week after Natsu had left, everything in the brothel had seemingly returned to normal, except for Fuyona's mood.
Who even while beating Kai in chess, looked noticeably more sour, and detached. She just stared off in the distance, regardless she was still winning the match.
="Do I play so badly that it kills your mood?" Kai asked jokingly.
-"Uh, no, well you do play horribly.. I was just thinking, sorry.." The both of them reached for a piece, and their hands touched.
="You are not really here, are you? It is my turn now.."
-"W..what? I uhh sorry.. I.. my mind just wandered off.." The girl only now noticed that their hands were touching, and stared at them.
="Uhh sorry." The samurai pulled his hand away.
-"That costs extra, good thing no one else saw.. " She put her hands down on her lap.
="It couldn't be that expensive.. The madam has been asking for a little more, each time anyway.."
<That greedy old witch.. Why does this idiot still keep coming then? Well it's nice I guess..> Fuyona thought.
-"I appreciate you coming, even despite that.."
="Don't thank that! I uhh it's.." The samurai stopped, not having anything to really say.
-"Well, at least I have you to talk to.."
="Ooh yeah, someone got bought, I assume you were friends?"
-"She was more like a sister to me, but whatever.. I just hope she is doing fine.." She supported her head with her arms.
="I'm sure she is! She is probably living happily, and in love!" Kai cheerfully exclaimed.
-"That sounded like a thing she would say.."
="Huh? Really?"
-"Yeah, you two are both simple minded optimists."
="Thanks!" It took a minute for the young man to process what she even said. "Wait.. I'm not "simple minded!"
-"Says the one who needed time to even understand what those words meant." The girl smugly shrugged.
="That was mean.."
-"Uhh sorry, don't get all gloomy again."
="I won't.." He chuckled at something.
-"What is so funny?"
="I just wonder how you keep being such a pessimist with that much positivity around you.. You are like a starless spot in the night sky."
-"Uhh.. and you are like a.. an idiot!"
Kai chuckled again.
="Took you a bit to get that simple word."
-"Y..you! Uhh whatever, just take your turn already!"
With that, he took his step, and afterwards she did the same.
-"Checkmate!"
="Oh come on now.. next time I'll win!"
-"How many times have you said that, again?"
="If I keep saying it, it will become true once!"
-"I'm afraid that's just not how it works.."
="Uh well still.. anyways I just remembered, you never told me how you ended up here.."
