He was crying and clutching onto my hospital shirt tightly. I let him. Because I know what this urge feels like. To cry in someone's embrace and let all your pain disappear. After sometime he stopped crying. He lifted his head and noticed that my shirt was damp from his tears. But before he could panic I held his hand and gave him an assuring look. He sat down on the chair and gazed at our hands deeply. My hand holding his. I sighed and finally decided to speak
"I don't know what you've went through, what Noor went through...all I can say is that whatever happened to you and Aunty neither of you deserved it. I don't know if I sound like I'm flexing but my life story is also tragic. I've never accomplished anything in life the easy way. Things had always been hard to achieve."
Ankit looked a little lost and confused so I finally revealed the truth to him
"I lost my parents in a car accident when I was of 3, then at the age of 17 I was kidnapped and severely tortured by human traffickers and then again a few weeks ago I was raped by a gang of 5 boys"
My breathe came out shaky as I remembered those horrible moments of my life.
Ankit's eyes grew wider.. He- He looked shocked.
"What?" His voice sounded like a whisper.
"Y-yes!"
"Y-you were r-raped 2 times?"
"yes."
"oh my god!" I could sense the frustration in his voice, the disbelieve, the betrayal
"I know, now you're not going to marry me because I am not v-virgin and all"
His eyes quickly shot up to mine and he gripped my hand tighter
"No Shirsha! No.. I'll marry you, I was just shocked by the things you told me about yourself. You went through so much yet you didn't even let anyone realise how much pain you were in. That's very brave of you."
Those words striked my soul like thunder. No-one ever said something so heart-warming like this to me.
"So did you" I smiled at him a little. He chuckled looked down for a little bit and when our eyes met. I noticed- He was blushing. Ankit was blushing!
I felt happy, warm and safe. Finally after years I felt these emotions and it's so overwhelming.
Ankit looked out the window and then loosened his grip.
"Well you rest for now, I'm gonna go check where that crazy woman went. She's taking ages just to grab a coffee." He smiled and tucked on my hand for the last time and disappeared through the door.
I sit up on the bed and start thinking about the incidents just happened. Ankit is very confusing to understand but I think it'll take time for both of us to warm up to each-other.
I was going towards the elvator when I heard Shirsha's father discussing something which my mother.
"I am very sorry, this useless girl causes problems each and everytime nothing new, please don't be offended, she'll pay for her sins don't worry"
"Mai samajh sakti hu Abhay ji leking aagar ladki aisi ho to kaise chalega, humare bete ka future ki baat hai, Ye ladki abhi se meri Anku ko itna stress de raha hai..jaab wo nalayak behosh thi, aapne mere bete ki muh dekhi thi? Sukh gaya tha pura"
("I can understand Abhay but it's not possible to handle if the girl is so troublesome, this is about our son's future, This girl is already stressing my son out, when she was unconscious, did you see my son's face? He looked pale")
I clenched my fists, my step-mother is such a witch, she pretends to care so much about me but in real it's all an act. I was about to shout at them that's when Noor got off the elavator and looked at me with 3 coffees in her hand
"The fuck you doing here?" She asks
"Huh- what?"
"Yeha kar kya raha hai tu? Di ko akele room mein chor ke chali ayi?"
("What are you doing here? You left Di alone in the room?")
"No-" I didn't finish my sentence as she pushes past me and walks towards Shirsha's room
This girl! *I sigh*
