My next few days with the Cullens were surprisingly tranquil. Compared to the circumstances, of course. I was mainly with Leah and Alice, sometimes visiting Bella as well, even though I found it hard to see her in such agony.

I fundamentally agreed with being against the baby, I did. I knew it meant most likely Bella's death. But I hated the wolves for simply wanting to go for the kill. It wasn't the solution.

Jake's new pack were more than helpful. They even made sure the vampires could go hunt for themselves. Meanwhile I was making food in the Cullens' kitchen, knowing Leah was more likely to accept food from me than the vamps.

As for me, I was great without food or sleep, but made sure I got both anyways.

"Nika?" asked Alice, the two of us together, wandering just outside their house.

"Yeah?"

"Do you still think Bella is the Spirit Mother?"

"Well I'm not the one pregnant."

"But you could still get pregnant. In the future."

"I don't know, Alice" I sighed. "It's probably the least of my concerns."

"Of course" she smiled sadly. "Alex called, by the way."

I stopped walking. Walking was a pretty surreal activity for us. We had extreme speed, and yet, we were walking slowly to clear our heads.

"Tell me if you don't want to hear, but I thought..."

"No, I do" I said quickly.

"He's doing much better. The Denalis like him a lot, he's making clear progress."

I nodded, continuing with the walking. They liked him?

"I wish he was here now."

"I really don't" said Alice. "I like him, he's family now. But throwing in a newborn into the already complicated situation would be a disaster."

I nodded again.

"I heard about your run-in with Paul... how are you?"

"I..." I sighed. "We're not exactly okay with him."

"What happened?"

"Both of us just... hurt the other? Didn't you... see it, though?"

"These days... my visions are all a little too blurry. It's the... fetus, it's... the distraught, I don't know. Maybe the wolves too."

"Do you think an imprint bond can be broken?" I asked, suddenly worried.

"You sound scared" Alice noted.

"Paul is... important to me" I admitted.

"If it makes you feel better... based on your decisions, I don't see any changes in your future regarding my original vision of you two."

"Original vision?" I asked.

She nodded.

"It was a pretty clear one, actually. It's rarely that self-explanatory. You and him were standing hand in hand, ready to fight. For us. For my family."

"Do you see him fighting for it now?"

"No" she scoffed. "But that doesn't mean he won't change his mind. If only I could see the fetus' future..."

"Morphine!" Edward yelled at Rosalie, from inside the house.

"Alice! Get Carlisle on the phone!" Rosalie screeched, and as we shared a brief look with Alice, we both rushed back in the house. Jacob was in shock, the others were panicking, and Bella...
