Mariana was running towards the only place she had ever called home. This was actually the house of a kindhearted family with two kids, Erika and Dean. Erika and Dean were twins but they were nothing alike.
Every day at two o'clock Erika offered lunch to all the cats that appeared on her doorstep. The first to get there takes the best, but Mariana wasn't going there for the food today. She had never talked to Erika because magical creatures were forbidden from talking to humans. For Mariana though, the magical creatures' rules felt like shackles meant to trap her, instead of laws meant to protect her. So she was going to break them.
Erika was still in her room. The window was open. Mariana changed into a beautiful sparrow and waited. When Erika left her room, Mariana flew in through the open window. She changed into an orange-white cat, just as Erika re-entered the room.
(Me, the best narrator, popping up again. This whole scene looks like a play; the room is the stage, Erika re-entering the room like an actor re-entering the stage and it inspired me so I decided to make it a little bit more play-like)
Mariana: Can I come with you at school?
Erika: You can talk!!
Mariana: Yes
Erika: But you are a cat!!!
Mariana: No, I'm not actually a cat
Erika: Then what are you?
Mum: Who are you talking to, honey?
Erika: To the cat
Mum: Be fast otherwise we will be late for your art club!
Erika: What in the world are you if not a cat?
Mariana: A Meta-polymorphic
Erika: A what???
Mariana: A Meta-Polymorphic, a creature that can change between its many forms at will
Erika: How did you get inside my bedroom?
Mariana: The window was open
Erika: Cats can't fly!
Mariana: But birds can
Erika: Aaaa! I got it now! Mum, can we visit the psychiatrist this afternoon? It's urgent!!
(End of the scene) No, wait a moment! It's not the end yet!! Who put that bracket there? Oh... right, I did, sorry guys. (Not end of scene -kindly continue reading)
Mariana changed form again. Erika couldn't stop a high-pitched scream from getting out of her mouth.
"Honey? Are you all right?"
"Mum do not feed the cats!"
"I will call the doctor, honey. Don't worry."
"How did you do that?" asked Erika half-amazed, half-frightened.
"We can do that."
"You mean there are more of you?"
" 'Course!"
"But how? What? Never heard of such creatures!" Erika exclaimed.
"Magical creatures like Polymorphics, mermaids, werewolves and elves live in secret, never revealing their true forms to humans," said Mariana with a tone you usually use when explaining something considerably difficult to a five year old.
"I am dreaming. I am asleep and I am seeing a weird dream."
"So that's why we live separately from humans," muttered Mariana.
