Chapter 6: Things getting fishier

Two days later, a new student arrived in class, but before we get to that I would like to have a brief summary of what happened in those two days. As I said before, nothing really interesting happens. During break, the three Arkatelians were staying with Dean and were sometimes accompanied by his friends. Once, Antonio and Elpinix chose to follow the rest of their class. They (meaning the boys and Elpinix) played basketball during break time. When that happened Axel stayed with Dean, Bill, Ben and Benjamin. He enjoyed their company very much, they laughed at his jokes (which were admirably good, I admit) and told him stories about quite everything they thought of. Dean left at some point and returned just before the end of the break but that didn't affect them.

The girls didn't have any problem either, Mariana was totally fine with staying with Erika but she didn't really like Veronica. That wasn't much of a problem because Veronica seemed to be vanishing from the face of earth during break time. Once, when Mariana and Sidonia talked about the 'other' world during a break, Erika walked away, heading to the girls' bathroom. Then Veronica mysteriously appeared just outside the bathroom and so the two of them walked around the school, talking and laughing.

All this is very good but it's a bit boring, so let's see what happened that Wednesday and how this seemingly trivial thing affected the fate of humanity and Earth itself... (it didn't -lol)

"Wakey, wakey,
Sun is shining,
..."

Elpinix sat upright and ready for fight. She was under the impression that they were being attacked. Then she understood... it was Zaharos' radio station again.

"Good morning everyone!!" said a male voice.

"Good-morning-from-me-too," said an exhausted voice that (probably) belonged to a woman.

"What happened to you Marie?"

"Fine, everything fine."

"Then I suppose wearing a green sock in one leg and a brown in the other is the new fashion. Why didn't you tell me to do the same?"

"What? Ah! It's not the new fashion, but they say it's good luck to wear your T-shirt the wrong way."

"Yeah, I did it once and it really works!! Did you hear the news about (mentions a name belonging to some very famous person) and his girlfriend?"

"Ex-girlfriend! She is not his girlfriend anymore!"

"Yeah, right."

"I do NOT want to hear another loony story about aliens who invaded Earth and ate human brains!" shouted Antonio.

The radio transmission stopped at once. Axel and Elpinix looked at Antonio, clearly relieved that they didn't have to hear the bunch of nonsense that was bound to follow, but also shocked to hear him speak. He had not talked, while inside the spaceship, since Monday night and they were getting quite worried (they meaning Rectangle, Axel and Elpinix, even if Elpinix tried her best not to show it).

Overcoming the shock, Axel thought about the crazy story. Not all alien species could eat humans but BlackAAAs would gladly invade earth and eat all human beings on it. The good thing about BlackAAAs was that they could not travel in space. Arkatelian scientists believed that four or less BlackAAAs had sneaked undetected in one of the spaceships before departing from Arkateles 3 and lived undetected in Arkateles 4 ever since. This is how BlackAAAs appeared on Arkateles 4.

Very few species had the technology necessary to reach another solar system. Was there a possibility that they weren't the only aliens on earth? Could some other creature of their galaxy be on the planet right now? Would it be possible that they were in this very city?
