Two different families.
Both affected by war.
Both made of a young family with siblings moving in.
Both living in manors.
Both different in their own ways.
The families were the potter family and the kolgrim family.
The Potter Family conceited of James Fleamont Potter, Lily Potter Nèe Evans and Harry James potter. But when James’s parents died in 1978, James’ little sister, Cassie, had to move in with the family as she was only 5. After the war had ended in October 1981, James moved the family and the 8-year-old Cassie into Potter Manor.
The Kolgrim family consisted of Dennis Kolgrim, Rema Joanne kolgrim nèe Lupin, Arabella Kolgrim, Austin Kolgrim and Quin Kolgrim. (and A woman called Vaga Black who moved in to be an aunt to the kids) Though in January 1981, Rema’s mother, Hope, sadly passed away and Rema’s dad, Lyall, couldn’t cope so he gave up his youngest 3 children to Rema to raise. These children were the recently turned 8-year-old Lola Lupin, the 4-year-old Jenny Lupin and the 7-month-old Marek Lupin.
Right now, it was 14th December 1981. James and Rema decided their sisters should meet as they are the same age and because both of them need some more ...... help before they go to Hogwarts in a few years. So here they are sat in the living room of Potter Manor. Well not all the kolgrim’s were there. Just Rema and Lola. Dennis and Vaga were spending the day with the other kids so Lola wouldn’t be so overwhelmed.
Lily and James were sat on the sofa with the 1-year-old Harry in Lily’s lap. Rema was sat on the armchair. The two 8-year-old were sat on the floor. Lola was currently reading a book at was for too old for an 8-year-old to read. Cassie on the other hand was far too excited to meet Lola and was just babbling
“HI IM CASSIE! You’re Lola, right? Remus has told me about you! He’s your brother, right? He’s so cool! I love him! Not as much as my brother, he’s the absolute best! Oh, your glasses are super cool! I love them! Oh my god, do you like unicorns! We should play with the unicorn toys! Jamie!! Can you get the unicorn toys!!!”
Lola looks up from her book and stars at her in confusion. Lily and Rema look at each other with a face of concern but James was very excited. “Are we sure this was a good idea?” Lily asks, her voice was filled with concern, but James doesn’t seem to notice as he just replied with “Cass is just being herself”. Lily puts her hand on James’s shoulder “I think she’s scaring Lola”. That when James noticed that Cassie was just chatting Lola’s ears off and Lola was just staring at her, while griping tightly to her book. Rema sighs before looking at the Potter’s. “Lola’s very mature…. She’s probably just confused at how much she’s saying…”
Finally, after a while of Cassie talking, Lola finally spoke up “you talk a lot” she spoke in a matter-of-fact voice. Cassie smiles widely and so did everything else in the room. Finally, the girls were having a conversation together.
“Do I? I don’t mean to! Do you want to say something? We can talk about what you want… Lily says I need to learn to let other people speak… apparently, I just talk and talk and talk and oh! I’m doing it again! Sorry! Do you want to say something!”
“....... I read books to Jenny about unicorns. I can see why they might make someone happy.”
“Yes, yes yes! Unicorns are great!!! Jammieeeee where are the plushies”
James quickly runs off and returns with a pile of unicorn plushies “here your royal highness” he says as he hands them over to the giggling 8-year-old “Thank you Jamie! You’re the best brother ever!” James smiles “yeah you’re too cute to be mad at”.
Cassie giggles and starts playing with the unicorns, trying to get Lola to play. Lola watches and every once in a while, she would look at Rema who would give her an encouraging smile. Finally, after a while Lola picked up a unicorn plushie and decided to say a fact about them hoping it would make Cassie like her “Did you know Unicorns are the mascot of Scotland?”
“Wow that’s so cool!! Do you know more facts like that? Can you tell me more? Please Lola”
“y-yeah. William the first was the first Royal to use it in the 12th century! It is believed that the mythical creature is their national animal because it’s a symbol of purity, innocence, masculinity and power.”
This is how the rest of the play date went and at one point Lola even let Rema hold her comfort book while her and Cassie went to Cassie’s room. All together everyone had an amazing date, and many more play dates were planned.
