Back at Malfoy Manor, a frantic discussion is taking place. To any passerby it would seem a casual, if stiff, conversation going on, but for the keen eyed the excitement can be seen among the participants in the way that Narcissa is, if slightly, leaning forward in her seat. In the way that Augusta is holding her tea cup ever so tightly, with a macaron half eaten on the plate, forgotten. In the way that the youngest Potions Master Severus Snape is refusing to have eye contact with the delightful ladies in his presence and instead is speaking softly, with a slight redness of his ear tips, about the wonderful encounter that he had just had that made his, initially an awful day, the best day of his dour life so far.
~an hour prior~
The mood of this enthusiastic gossip session was not that easy to achieve. With the exit of the woman in question, the entranced man made his way towards the other recipients of the room. Sighing to himself, still in his thoughts, he took the seat opposite of his dear friend and confidant. Reaching for the cup of tea presented to him he took a sip, still reeling from the feeling of contentedness and warmth that refused to leave him.
Noticing the predicament her new friend had left her old friend in and choosing to ignore the entranced man in question for the time being, Narcissa starts talking and enquiring about the new addition to their children's playdates, with Augusta. The praise for the child's demeanor as well as the respect for the mother to take on such a responsibility is enough for the older women of the two, to see Isis in a new light.
But as soon as the topic was started, it would be foolish to expect the entranced man to not wake up from his reverie to listen more about the women of his admiration. While the encounter was not as fresh, he still couldn't remember hearing of such a child. When asking about the same, the response he received was not something he would have expected, but not that surprising either. Apparently, the man had been so far gone in admiring the angel of his affection, that he blocked all the other information received, because surely, at the time the view was far better than the noise.
Confused by such behavior of her friend, who was never not vigilant even in informal settings, Narcissa worries and asks her friend to explain this drastic change.
"What is the matter Severus? I have never seen you so... dazed."
Presented with such direct questioning, especially from a woman who was like a sister to him, he explains...
"She's my...Mate..." is spoken so softly, one would not hear if it weren't for the silence of anticipation from the question. And the silence after is of the implications of this confession that has been made.
Evidently, the first reaction the man expected was surprise, which was received. But the next was not, and that was encouragement.
Narcissa was surprised, but above all, she was happy for her friend/brother. For so long she had seen him go from a hopeful young boy who had just received his inheritance, to the sad and downright melancholy man that he had turned into. It would be a lie otherwise but she too had lost hope for him. The feeling of meeting Isis and getting so close to her to the point it would be alarming, was unexpected. But that meeting has led up to this and has turned into a gift from Lady Magic herself.
As no other reason presented to the women, she accepted this gladly. The information she had of Isis would be willingly presented to her friend, if asked. This was relayed to the man, who was relieved to have some answers to his questions now.
The first and expected was the topic of her being a mother. Though the man did not mind the child, felt fondly for it even, there was a part of him, which he suspected to be his creature, that felt that possessive urge of his shake at the thought of their being another man. The rational part of him knew that it could have been a possibility when he noticed she didn't have a creature, but now presented with such truth, it was hard to not bolt out the Floo, search for the man, and rip him apart for touching what was HIS! But the thought of her being hurt and worst of all hating him for it, was enough for him to stay seated.
Unaware of such turmoil of the man, Narcissa proceed to explain to both her audience what she knew of Isis. The proper information of her moving to America after adopting the child as her son, who had lost his real parents in the war, so that he can learn his roots to prepare for his eminent heirships was relayed.
This had the immediate impact of quelling the possessive rage of the man, turning into pride for his soon to be mate. But before he could dwell on it, both ladies started asking him one after the other, about his feeling for her, and what did he think of her so far.
~now~
These questions were the reason the conversation turned into an enthusiastic gossip session, evident in the way Narcissa was leaning forward in her seat, happy for her friend. In the way Augusta was holding her tea cup ever so tightly, with half of a macaron forgotten, cheering for the young man and woman. In the way that a hopelessly infatuated youngest Potions Master Severus Snape was finally allowing himself to hope again...
