I had to lock Pablo in his room when we got back home because I knew he'd be hungry when he woke up. But he wouldn't be hungry for food; he'd be hungry for blood. Human blood. I'd have to teach him how to hunt and how to do it without getting caught.

I retreated from his door and walked downstairs, where I could hear Pedri, Ansu, and Ferran chatting. When I entered the room, they immediately noticed that something was wrong, and all three looked at me with concern.

"What's wrong?" Ferran asked, and I gulped.

"Something went wrong on the job... Pablo, he..." I began, but Ansu cut me off as he stood up abruptly.

"What's up with Pablo?!"

I looked down. "He got shot, and I... I couldn't save him. I had to turn him into a vampire."

The room fell silent. Pedri's eyes widened, Ferran's jaw dropped, and Ansu took a step back, processing what I had just said.

"What...?" Pedri finally whispered, and I looked at him with guilt.

"It didn't go as planned. Isabell went into a bar after the movies, and her brother was there too. I wanted to leave because I thought it was too dangerous, but Pablo insisted on staying to take her. He wanted to complete the job. When I tried to take her, her brother shot him. Pablo's upstairs... he's still unconscious."

Ansu got up to look after Pablo, but I stopped him. "You can't see him now. He'll kill you if you step into that room. He still needs to learn how to control his desire for blood."

Ansu snorted and sat back down. Pedri continued looking at me with a glint in his eye that I couldn't read. I didn't know if he was angry or not. I quickly forced myself to look away and stood up. "I'll go check on Gav... maybe he's awake already." With that, I turned around and headed upstairs to Gavi's room.
