Morning struck gleaming its orange sunlight on Amber's skin. She groaned and moved the sheets from her face taking a look around the room. The room looked unfamiliar to her. The plants, Sneakers on the floor, a velvet armchair facing the window, and a phone ringing on the left nightstand. Amber quickly jumped from the bed and gathered her things. Stuffing herself in her beige cashmere sweater, She tucked her feet into her heels and dashed to the elevator mashing the buttons. She prayed whoever's apartment she slept in was someone she knew. What happened last night? Amber thought she took someone home but it was the other way around. Shuffling into the elevator, She bumped into someone's chest hurting her head.

"Excuse me, I have somewhere to be," She announced as she rubbed her head and took the empty spot next to them.

The chest belonged to a light skinned male covered in tattoos, A shaven head, looked about 6'0, and smelled of aftershave. Amber took a quick look analyzing the male before she faced the elevator doors and checked for her purse.

"Long night? I feel like I've seen you before." He spoke as he turned to Amber and placed his hand on his chin.

"Trust me, You haven't." Amber blurted out as she sped out the elevator and out to the busy streets.

She waved for taxi and pushed herself inside, The taxi reeked of smoke and liquor but at the night she had, Her clothes didn't smell any better. Her perfume had faded into her leather pants and her hair was a mess tossed on her head. Maybe the blowout she had set an appointment for wasn't a good idea for a night out. Amber looked at her phone and noticed all the text messages from her friend, Chyna. All wondering what happened and asking if she made it home safe. The home funded by her father's money and located close to his business. She dialed a number into her phone and hoped the person answered.

"D, Please tell me we still have time on the project." Amber begged as she looked through her purse and took a journal out.

"He pushed it back for the day but we really need your part in before the week ends."

"I promise I'll have it on a hard drive once I get everything situated and settled at home." She declared, Writing in the date into the journal.

"Cool, Just let me know if you need anything else."

Amber hung up the phone and removed herself from the taxi. She stood in front of her building taking a deep breath before opening the large doors and rushing into her apartment. The cold breeze brushed against her skin as she removed her sweater and tossed it onto the white couch. Amber made her way to the shower letting the water run and fog up the mirrors. She took a look at herself analyzing her face and checking for any injuries, Nothing was left behind. Perfect skin, that was once damaged in high school, took a recovery as she got older. She remembered the constant bullying and name calling from freshman year up to junior year. Everyday she thanked god for helping her learn from the experience and put in the effort into her looks.

Hopping into the shower, She let the water run onto her skin and soak up that dirt. The smell of florals filled the bathroom as she lathered herself and carefully washed her hair. Amber came out with her curls on her head and a fresh scent attached to her body.

"To think I tried to hide them in the past." She thought to herself as she played with curls and ran her fingers through them.

Turning on her heels, She watched her phone light up with a call. It was from an old friend of hers who she used to play Sandcastles with. Now both of them have grown and now own businesses of their own.

"Hey beautiful, You been keeping busy lately?" He asked on the line.

"You know with the whole gallery and keeping up with my dad's share of the business, It's been a lot." Amber claimed as she began putting on her undergarments.

"That's good, Me and the guys been meaning to ask you if you wanted to hang later."

Amber had just came back from a wild night, going back out again could lead to another route of those events. She couldn't say no to her childhood friend, but it's been a while since they've seen each other.

"Sure. I can pop out for a couple or so, Just no drinking for me." She sighed, Putting the phone on speaker and slipping her leather jacket on her back.

"Aight." He spoke before hanging up the phone.

Her phone rested on the nightstand as she took a deep breath and grabbed her purse off the floor. She had a long day ahead of her and people to speak to, Specifically Devante, for the project she has been working on for a minute.
