Music bumped through the speakers, Sweaty bodies filled the floor, Smoke floated in the air, The liquor is settling in. Amber watched as the crowd drank themselves to death while she sat in a section with her friends. They were having their own conversation while she had her headphones in listening to her own music and enjoying the scene. Anthony had abandoned her for a bit to grind against some brown skinned shawty he found at the bar. Across the crowd, She noticed her stalker. He was passing a blunt around and tossing dusse back like it was water. She noticed he had a tattoo on his neck in spanish, It read "No Temas a nadie" . The blue lights shined on the ink so good, She could see his scars underneath it. Seeing him lick the wrapper of his blunt, Made her shift in her seat as she watched him roll the blunt in his hands. Amber quickly shook the feeling off her head and paid attention to the crowd.
She thought to herself that he was corny but in this very moment, Something about them tattoos made him a little cute. Before she could think of something else, Anthony came back to the section with the girl and snatched a seat next to her. He pulled the headphones from her ears causing SWV to stop singing in her ear.
"You having fun by yourself, Bambi?" Anthony chuckled as he spotted Amber staring her huge toffee eyes at him.
"I just got caught up in my thoughts." She admitted as she shyly giggled and brushed her jacket off.
Amber had to admit, That man got something going on and she needed to find out what it is. The tattoos wasn't the only thing she wanted to see underneath that leather jacket, She just knew it was big! Amber wanted to hop on that man real bad but she had to stay tame, Looking thirsty didn't look good on her. She sucked it up and took the courage to ask Anthony who that man was.
"Anthony, Who is that over there in that corner?" She questioned. "The one smoking with the neck tattoos."
"Rio? I thought you knew him already. He comes into the shop 24/7, Always asking for some purple haze." Anthony mentioned. "Weird ass nigga, but if you want him go talk to him."
She tilted her head and observed for a second longer before taking the courage to walk up to him. Amber pushed through the crowd and allowed the smoke to fill her nose as she slid in front of him and let the blunt be passed to her. She blew the smoke in his face and examined how he opened his mouth a bit to let the smoke in. His eyes set on hers as he wrapped his hands around her waist, Amber played with his zipper and inspected his eyes following hers.
"Thought you ain't like me?" he whispered in her ear. "What changed your mind?"
"Something was in the air tonight." Amber mumbled as she spoke low and fumbled with his jacket as she took it off him and put it on herself.
Her phone lit up displaying a message across the screen "You left your bra and panties here the other night." Amber quickly hid her phone in her pocket and took one look at Rio before leaving his side quickly. Rio stood confused as she ran outside the club, He was puzzled about what she had going on but he minded his business and continue smoking his blunt.
She took a quick glance at the number and tried to decipher who it belonged to, She typed it into cashapp and nothing popped up. Lost in her thoughts, she tried to call the number but nobody picked it up. Amber leaned on the brick wall defeated and checked the jacket pockets for a lighter or something for her to play with. For her lucky guess, She found a single cigarette and lighter inside. She lit the cancer stick and took a small drag from it as she peeked at the diner across the street. Observing as people come in and out of the building. To her surprise, Devante was inside with his girlfriend. She noticed as they shared a plate and shared a conversation about something she couldn't make out from reading their lips.
That was something she craved. Somewhere eating with her lover, sharing about her day, wearing a dress they bought for her, and sipping on Stella Rosa. Imagining herself on cloud 9, but with whom? That answer would be unknown until further notice.
"What type of conversation you think they got going on?" someone asked, Their voice smooth like honey but wasn't too deep. More like smooth liquor down someone's throat.
"Um I don't know. Probably something fun since they're laughing and smiling." Amber answered as she took another drag from the cigarette in her hand.
"Let me guess, You've never smoked before?" He questioned as he noticed the ash falling to the ground quickly.
"Just something I found in this jacket." She confessed. "I've done weed but never a cig."
He took the cigarette from her hands and placed it between his two fingers, Gesturing for her to take a smoke. He demonstrated for her to let the smoke settled in her mouth before blowing it out.
"See? It's easy once you get the hang on it. Don't get attached to it now, It's hard to let go of."
Amber felt some type of comfort around him, like he was a warm cup of coffee on a gloomy day, She extended her hands to his and shook it.
"Amber."
"Trey."
The two exchanged a look as he handed her the cigarette back and he slipped a piece of paper into her jacket pocket before disappearing. Without a thought, She peeked at the scrap and seen a phone number scribbled across it. It must've been something he had been holding onto all night since it looked freshly written.
Rio came running out the door hoping he could catch up with her, He slowed down as he stood before her. His chest pumping as he stood face to face with her and taking the jacket off her back and putting it on his. He observed her eyes staring at the diner window seeing the couple leave. He could see she had a hint of regret in her face but not to the point where she could cry.
"You good?" he asked as he turned his attention to hers and letting his eyes follow hers.
"Yeah, Just got lost in my thoughts." she lied. "Tonight just felt a little different tonight."
He nodded and guided her on the sidewalk allowing her to walk inside while he walked on the outside. He rubbed his head as he seen her focused on the buildings in front of her and the road passing them by. The night was something different than what she was used to but at least she tried something new.
