"Can we meet up and clear this up?"
The text sat on Amber's phone while she gazed into the mirror, She had a hard time choosing what gold necklace she should wear. Pearls sat on the edge of her vanity but she figured it was "too fancy" for dinner. She ran her hands along the embellished necklace and held the clasp behind her neck. The necklace looked like honey sitting on her neck as she turned to the side and held her curls up with her other hand. The next question was what dress would she wear with it. A slick mini cocktail dress, A red velvet A line dress, or the floor length sage dress she wore to Chyna's birthday celebration?
The decision was hard to make but she knew exactly who to call for times like this. Anthony, The man who wears wifebeaters but can style someone like it was his job, she listened to the line ringing while she started to apply her base.
"What's going on? Everything okay?" he asked.
"Nothing, I just need help picking a dress for the night. I'm stuck between three choices." she responded.
Amber placed her phone against the mirror and displayed all three dresses on the camera. The wooden hangers shined in the orange lights as she flipped through them and showed the designers of each one.
"Nah, Wear that two piece set you wore to my grand opening. The garden one not my smoke shop."
"The silk white two piece with the black bows on the side?" she questioned as she went deep into her closet and pulled the outfit out.
"Yes, I loved that maxi skirt and halter on you. It matched with your jewelry so well." Anthony responded.
Amber took his word for it and slid herself into the outfit. The skirt sitting on her hips comfortably and the top revealing her back and sitting like a necklace on her. It was snatched in the right places and went perfectly with pearl earrings. She spun around for Anthony and showed him a thumbs up.
"You were right! This says i'm classy and I know what I want." Amber laughed as she clipped her curls with a claw clip and put her rings on her fingers.
She ended the call and quickly finished her make up before Trey could see her. Her doe lashes sat perfectly as she glued them on carefully onto her natural ones. minutes later, a knock on her door alarmed her that it was time for her to go. She took a quick glance at her watch and seen it was already 9 o'clock. Amber grabbed her baguette purse off the back of her chair and strolled to the front door.
The door revealed Trey standing in a brown silk button up revealing his chest, Black dress pants, and brown dress shoes. He handed her a bouquet of stargazer lillies, the pink added a pop to her opal white outfit and nails. Trey grabbed her hand and led her into the hallway, closing the door behind her. He discovered a huge piece of ink on Amber's shoulder blade and rubbed his thumb against it.
"How come you never showed me this?" Trey joked as he traced the lines of the art piece.
"I'm so used to wearing things covering my back that it never got a chance to breathe." Amber softly spoke.
Trey giggled and turned his attention back to her as he led her to his car. A whiff of new car smell buried her nose as she caught him opening the door for her and guiding her into the car. He hurried to the driver's side and stripped in before taking off to their reservation. Amber took the time to take a good look at her city and the people walking by like she mentioned to Trey hours prior. He turned to steal a look but saw she was occupied with the view of the city. Her eyes centered and focused on the mood while Solange faintly played in the back. Trey wanted to steal a kiss from her and rub his hands all over her body but he had to keep it cool till after dinner, If she was comfortable with it.
just when his thoughts were close to losing their mind, They were already at the restaurant. The valet opened the door for Amber and helped her outside while Trey gave his keys to the other. The two entered the restaurant and were welcomed to a petite woman dressed in a black two piece suit minus the blazer and a black apron. She guided the two to a magnificent table with a view of the city out back. the table occupied a bottle of Cristal Champagne, A platter of raw oysters, and two glasses of water. Trey helped Amber into her chair and took the seat next to her with his golds smiling at her and his eyes immediately focused on her.
"What you think? Do you find yourself coming another time?"
"Yeah, This place looks like something I can come to when I need a place to dress up for and have hours of conversation." Amber revealed as she scoped the scenery and placed a napkin onto her lap.
Soft old school rnb sounded performed in a speaker near them as they sat. Trey reached over for her hands and held them as he gazed into her almond brown eyes, thanks to the candlelight highlighting them. Her nails laid upon his hands as she felt the warmth from his hands to hers. Their hearts beating at the same pace as they stared into each other and said so much without speaking. The same host came back and poured the champagne into their glasses as they became lost in each other.
"Those pieces I showed you earlier were inspired by people like you. People who actually decipher art and put a meaning to it." Trey admitted as he took a sip from his glass.
"I'd loved to see some of these pieces in person, if possible." Amber expressed while messing with the bracelets on his wrists.
"We can take a trip after dinner and I can show you some canvases I haven't finished."
Amber lit up like a light bulb when he told her about the unfinished projects, She wanted to see what's been on his mind lately. She had already imagined he has some life changing pieces waiting to be used for her exhibit. As he went into further detail about his art, Amber nodded her head along with every word he said to her. The menu sitting alone as they engaged into deeper conversations and sipping more and more on their glasses.
"Have you decided for the night? What dish has caught your attention?"
"I was thinking a pepper crusted tuna with prosecco umami sauce." Amber decided as she scanned the menu once more.
"A lady that knows her dishes, How charming!" Trey exclaimed while glancing at the pearls dangling from her ears.
"Living in the city for so long, I picked up a thing or two."
the two chuckled as they finalized their orders and smiled in each other's direction. The bottle of champagne slowly beginning to become empty as the night went by and their conversations deepened into their own worlds. Trey lended his hand towards Amber and took her to the balcony, Others were drinking and dancing to the slow jams as the stars surrounded them. Amber laid her head on Trey and followed his lead to the rhythm. He engulfed himself into her curls and took a whiff of her sweet scent as they waltzed around in a circle. Their stomachs full and the alcohol started to set in.
just how he imagined earlier without the rain but everything else was just right. The last stop being his art studio and back to their respective homes. The two finished up their meals and paid for check, Leaving the building holding hands and giggling to themselves as they were tipsy. His studio resides inside a huge brick building filled with different rooms and a huge foyer. He usually comes by in the morning to beat the traffic but to his surprise no one was here for the night. He stuck his key into the lock and turned the knob to his section.
unfinished canvases propped against the wall, Paintbrushes sitting in old watercolor, aprons draped against a chair, and a work in progress canvas standing tall underneath the moonlight waiting to be finished. Trey stood back as he watched Amber studying each painting and taking in everything she saw. She landed in front of a canvas with a painted cigarette and a pair of hands with a flower tattoo on one and the other looked to be his.
the painting represented that night they met and the cigarette she smoked outside of the club.
Amber ran her finger against the canvas, "Is this me?" she asked as she looked back at Trey.
he nodded and bent down to her level with his hand on hers, "Yep and I'll never forget that interaction ever."
She smiled and planted a kiss on his cheek leaving her clear lip gloss shining on his face.
