checking her phone for missed messages, She came across the missed phone call. Amber shot out her tiredness and hurried to ring the line, biting her lip she listened to a man laugh into the phone. The voice was unfamiliar to her, No names or faces popped up in her mind. She listened carefully as they mumbled something but she couldn't hear that great. Every time a word came out, She couldn't decipher the letters.
"What?" she shouted sounding like somebody grandma on the phone, the signal wasn't bad. so what was the issue?
Amber hung the phone up and threw her phone to the nightstand. She ain't had the time to play foolish games with nobody. She tightened her robe and made her way to the kitchen, A knock at the door shook her up as she stopped in her tracks. Another knock came a second time but she knew who it was the second time round. Behind the door stood Devante with that smug look on his face and a bag of food on his hand. Amber fixed her face and grabbed the food from him while letting him inside.
"Am, you ain't forget about me did you?" Devante joked as he took a seat onto her couch.
"The last time I seen you was when I got my project picked." Amber sighed as she dug through the bag and took a burger out. "It's not like I forgot about it."
He threw his hands up in defeat and showed his phone to Amber, His screen displayed a poster of an urban event with an upcoming & rising male rapper. "I made a couple calls and got him to make a schedule to perform at your event."
Amber jumped and squealed while running to Devante and pulling him into a tight hug. He snatched a bite from her burger and jokingly kissed her on the cheek. Taking her by surprise, His phone rung breaking the two up from each other. Devante took himself to the hallway and answered the phone. Amber took it upon herself to peek into his jacket pocket and found a ring box. She opened the box revealing what looked to be an engagement ring. Her face painted with shock as she quick put the box back in the pocket and waited for Devante to come back. She inspected anxiously as he waltzed in and taking a seat next to Amber like he had something important to say.
"I need a huge favor for you. My girlfriend is in town and I need you to distract for me while I set some things up." Devante asked as he put his hands together and begged.
"Sure, Anything for a friend."
He pulled her in for a hug and grabbed his jacket, leaving her alone. All those years she spent plotting on him and he's finally popping the question to her. She had to admit, She's jealous but she can't be mad since she got others waiting on her. Amber dragged herself to her bathroom and spent the rest of her time getting ready to distract this girl. She had planned to stay in bed all day and gather herself but folks got her outside again. Time went by and Amber prepped herself to take herself down the hall to Devante's apartment. She stood terrified as she raised her hand to knock on the door but kept stopping herself.
The door swung open to a dark skinned beauty dressed with the hottest threads and a press so fresh, It'd burn you. Her smile white like the pearly gates and her nails cleaned up with a simple french tip.
"The Glitz & Glam"
Jill Marie Johnson as Laysha Williams
Laysha stood surprised as she seen another woman standing at her man's door. She didn't sense competition but she knew something was going on between the two. Laysha quickly turned to Devante waiting for an explanation while Amber stood awkwardly to the couple about to argue. Her eyes immediately began to scavenger while Laysha pushed him back inside the apartment.
"Who is that woman standing at my door and why is she looking at you like she got something going on for herself? Are you fucking that?" Laysha barked while stabbing her manicure in his face.
"Baby, We work together. Ain't nothing going on between us. You know that." He fell back.
"Devante, I don't have the time for your games. Tell me now, Are you fucking her?" Laysha repeated.
"No."
Laysha let out a sigh of relief and opened the door back to Amber still standing there with an awkward smile on her face. She pushed Devante out the door and closed it behind them as she followed the two lobby. He handed Amber a piece of paper and pulled her to the side.
"Keep her occupied with everything on that list and do not let her suspect anything. I love that woman and I'd be damned to lose her." Devante declared while leaving in another car and having a driver pick them up.
Amber returned back to Laysha and extended her hand out.
"We haven't formally met. I'm amber and i've been a friend of his since high school, I promise nothing is going on between us. I got my own folks to be with and work." She announced as Laysha took her hand hesitantly.
"Good to know."
A chauffeur guided the ladies to a limo and offered their finest service to them. Laysha examined the bottle and scoffed at the brand she seen plastered across the bottle, She assumed if they knew she was coming they'd at least get a better brand. The rose petals on the floor looked unimpressive on the floor but she dealt with it since she didn't know who was in charge of the decorations. Every chance she got, She snuck a look at Amber and sized her up. Laysha was still suspicious of their relationship but she didn't think too much into it. She just sucked it up and took his words.
