"I wish people would stop telling me I'm not fine! I am! I wish you all would leave me alone! I wish I never came back to this d*nm country!"
-SaeThe sun, radiant and unforgiving, cast its golden tendrils through the sheer curtains of Rin's room, painting the space with a warm, ethereal glow. Yet within the confines of his sanctuary, Rin remained ensconced in a cocoon of melancholy, his mind weighed down by the burdens of unspoken truths and fractured relationships.
A soft rapping at his door shattered the fragile stillness, drawing Rin's attention to the threshold where a figure stood silhouetted against the morning light. With a heavy sigh, Rin buried himself deeper beneath the covers, hoping to evade the unwelcome intrusion.
"Rin," the figure called out, the word laden with concern and a hint of reproach. "Are you awake?" He knew who it was.
Reluctantly, Rin relented allowing his father to cross the threshold and approach his bedside with measured steps. The air hummed with unspoken tension as Rin braced himself for the inevitable conversation that loomed on his father's tongue.
"Good morning....Otōsan," Rin greeted, his voice tinged with weariness as he struggled to be close with such man that never made an effort in his life.
His father's brow furrowed with concern, his gaze probing as he took in Rin's disheveled appearance. "Rin, my.." he began, his voice gentle yet tinged with apprehension.
Rin could tell he was going to finish by saying son, but he didn't and that made all the sense to him. He let his father continue. "Last night, I heard...disturbances. Are you...?"
Rin hesitated, grappling with the myriad emotions controlling how he should respond. Should he lash out and tell his father to leave him alone and go , should he be snarky about it, should he give the good response that his father would want to here? He knew what to do. "I'm fine, Otōsan," he replied, his words betraying his true feelings . "Just...fatigued, that's all."
His father regarded him with a flat grim , his gaze lingering on Rin's downturned form. Rin could tell this was an expression for good answer. "Very well," he conceded, though a weird skepticism lingered in his voice. "I will head out now..."
With a nod of understanding, Rin watched as his father withdrew, leaving him alone once more with his thoughts. He was always so detached as a father. It was suffocating him with their silent reproach.
Very quickly a new voice shattered the fragile stillness, his tone brusque and commanding. "Rin, get your a** out of bed. We're going out."
Startled, Rin peeked out from beneath the covers, his gaze fixing upon the figure of his brother as he loomed in the doorway with an air of impatience. "Sae," Rin began, his voice tinged with trepidation. "I don't—"
"I don't give a damn what you want," Sae interjected, his words sharp and biting. "Okasan's been begging me to get some fresh air and take you with me since you're so incapable and she wouldn't stop until I agreed. So get dressed, we're leaving."
