Leila's parents accompanied her all the way to the train station, much to her annoyance. While she adored them, and paid them to utmost respect, this was not a sign of love but of dominance. A show of force, to the other pureblood families that Leila Alinac-Malfoy was their daughter.

Her father Stephane Malfoy, was the very essence of power. Sleek, polished and weilding an unwavering glare, he carried her suitcase in one hand and his wand in the other. Its yew wood gleaming in the early morning light, much like his moonlight hair. Beside him, was her mother. Beauty incarnate. With her hair cascading down her back in dark, flowing waves, her lips were painted a furious red. Their love story is not special, born from an arrangement between families; yet, it was hard to deny when together that they made a formidable pair.

They, however, were not the people that Leila knew and loved. The blushing, bumbling father that still grew shy each time her mother kissed him on the cheek. The tranquil, ever-present mother who mended her scrapes each time Leila fell from her broom. The pair who danced in the kitchen to old french ballads, and stayed up all night reading to their beloved daughter.

She kissed her mother on the cheek, whispering into her ear gently "I love you, see you at Christmas." While her mother could not reply, she saw the affection shining in her dark caramel eyes.

She collected her suitcase from her father and nodded. He pulled her in close, placing his forehead on hers gently before stepping back and walking away. Her mother lingered, desperate for one last look at her daughter, heading off into the first year of her NEWTS.

Leila turned, gazing out towards the train. A breath of relief left her lips as the smell of smoke washed over her. It was freedom, for a little while. The summer had been brilliant, with Leila writing back and forth to Meredith and Regulus about their band, but she couldn't help but feel as though something was lingering in the edges of her home. Tucked away into the shadows. The scattered glances, the newly formed creases in her fathers forehead, the distant glaze in her mothers eyes. Something was happening, and Leila was desperate to escape it.

She rushed onto the train, humming slightly, as she headed towards the carriage Meredith had claimed all the way back in first year; 303. Inside she found Meredith, already changed, sprawled across one side with a pen and paper in her hands. Upon spotting Leila, she squealed and embraced her in a body-crushing hug. In the corner of her vision, leila spied the etchings the pair made at the end of 1st year.

MB+LA FOREVZ

Laughing at the memory of a young Meredith stating that by saying 'forevz' they would appear to be cooler than they were, Leila turned her attention back to her best friend. she looked the same as always, her deep mauve hair cut with thousands of layers and falling around her face almost effortlessly. Her best friend was mesmerising, and Leila felt eternally grateful for having met her.
