Remus could feel the wolf itching at the edges of his skin

Remus could feel the wolf itching at the edges of his skin. The full moon the following night and both him and moony could sense it. It was like a scratch, always lingering out of view. Sitting on his shoulder but so far back he couldn't even see it if he turned his head. Always one second out of reach, out of frame, on the next page. There was no way to describe it.

As he walked towards the transfiguration classroom, his fellow marauders laughing at his sides, he couldn't help but fiddle with the tie around his neck. It was suffocating. Squeezing and squeezing at his throat not even letting in a decent breathe of air. He just wanted to rip it off and-

"You alright mate?" Sirius asked, stopping him with a hand on the shoulder. Remus swallowed and nodded, without saying anything in return.

Sirius watched as his best mate fiddled anxiously with his collar, the sleeves of his shirt, his jumper. It was always like this the days before the full moon, and it tugged at his heart strings. He kept a gentle hand on Remus' shoulder as they all walked towards their next lesson.

Leila was in a rush. She had spent too long that morning going through quidditch drills that she overshot the amount of time she would have to get to her first lesson. As she raced towards the classroom, Meredith sauntering behind her, she spotted Remus down the hall about to enter the same classroom.

He looked awful, she thought. His eyes were sunken, and the the stark white scar that fell across the right side of his face stood out more prominently, as though wanting to draw attention to itself. She registered that a full moon must be coming up, but couldn't bring herself to care beyond that. Still, her eyes lingered on his frame for a moment longer.

She entered the classroom with minutes to spare. The curse, however, of her lateness was the lack of empty chairs and or tables. She breathed out an irritated sigh as she weighed her options:

Lily Evans, a boring, uptight Mudblood who no doubt would be so terrified of her the whole lesson that mocking wouldn't even be fun. Or, Marlene McKinnon.

Meredith finally caught up to her friend, entering the classroom seconds later. Leila groaned internally before shooting her friend a look. Swallowing down her ego, pride and all accompanying shreds of her dignity, Leila took the seat beside Lily. Leaving Meredith to sit next to the so-called love of her life.

Meredith's' eyes light up with gratefulness and she beamed at her Best friend. With a swallowed squeal and a whispered bout of gratitude she began walking towards the desk. Leila just rolled her eyes and continued further into the room.

Upon noticing her partner, Marlene shifted in her seat groaning, pushing her notes as far as possible from the approaching girl. She had been hoping for a cute boy to sit beside her, hence the reason Lily was sat alone. Yet, Leila couldn't miss the slight sparkle in her eyes.

Lily froze in her space. She had watched the interaction with anticipation, begging that Leila would choose the other chair. There was still a chance and at least three other spaces towards the back of the room. Leila was smart, and driven but she surely could suffer being at the back for one lesson..... she prayed to any unknown force up in the ether to not do this to her. They didn't listen.
