January 17th, there were in Madrid for the Supercopa semifinal against their rivals Real Madrid.Emilia had also been recently announced as an Atlético player, wearing the number 21 which many thought was a hint to her Spanish girlfriend who unknowingly gave her the self-confidence to make this move.
Patri was buzzing to not only be in the same country, but now the same city for the next couple of days. Atletico were on the other side of the Supercopa, playing their own knockout against Real Sociedad a few hours before Barça's game.
Despite Patri wanting to see how Emilia copes in her first Supercopa game, she remained professional and stuck to concentrating on their own game instead.
It was very important to get the game plan right, and they all knew the chemistry had to be improved on from their other games.
Kaia spoke seven words to Mariona, after being forced to do so by Mapi. She said 'what's happened happened, let's just move on.'
That fixed them in a sense, and as for the secretly broken up couple... they were still living together so had to communicate and keep it civil for their own sanity.
Mapi still wasn't a fan of Natalie dragging Kaia into the breakup, but she was good at keeping it professional on the pitch.
And that's exactly what they did, kept it professional and focused all their efforts and anger on Real Madrid.
It was a close match, both teams got early goals which spurred the defensive battles into become more aggressive; and that caused a few yellow cards to go out and arguments to commence.
Kaia had to chase after Athenea on the counter, she got shoulder to shoulder and easily pushed the small Spanish winger off the ball. But Athenea fell to the floor shouting for a foul and holding her ankle desperately. It made Kaia look down at her in disbelief, and then she got shoved by Beth England which she wasn't too pleased with.
Lucy ended up pushing Kaia away from their international teammate, and Kaia got a warning while Athenea got a yellow for her attitude.
The game ended 3-2 to Barcelona, it was a good shift from all of them and that was obvious by the couple of players who laid down on their backs to just take a minute to breathe and rest.
Mapi was one of those players, and she didn't get up until someone stopped with their white Nike boots either side of her knees.
"Come on, beautiful." Kaia holds her hands down, making sure Mapi's actually acknowledged her presence.
Mapi takes Kaia's hand and gets pulled up to her feet, then they hug and do their handshake for the good win.
As they walk towards the referees, Mapi lifts Kaia's arm over her shoulders and holds it there by the wrist. She was very tired, and although she's more than happy for the win, she knows they have Atletico in the final only a few days away. Another gruelling game.
"Good game." Kaia gives a friendly hug to Misa once they reach her.
"Yeah..." Misa sighs while already swapping Kaia for Mapi.
"Are you thinking of leaving?" Mapi asks shamelessly, but she keeps her voice quiet.
"I don't know." Misa places her hands on her hips, happy to stand around and chat to them both. "I love Real Madrid-"
"-ew." Kaia mutters, getting a scolding nudge but also a chuckle from Mapi.
"But they are just not progressing fast enough, players are leaving and others aren't signing renewals." Misa reveals. "I have to think about my career, and this is an opportunity I feel I should think about. I won't leave before the season ends though, I can't do that."
