Pain.
That's all I felt in that moment was pure and utter pain. It felt like my head was splitting open. Anytime I tried to move I felt a wave of nausea wash over me like a tidal wave. I tried to open my eyes but was immediately met with sunlight on my face making everything worse. After what felt like I had walked through hell and back a hundred times, the pain and nausea finally subsided and I was able to open my eyes.
I managed to sit up as I took a look around the unfamiliar setting. I took notice of the fact that I had been lying on a bed in a fancy room. My head racked through possibilities of what happened until my memories of the day before hit me like a train. I took a look around again? Only this time the room seemed a lot more recognizable.
"This is Alexander's room! Why out of all places am I in here!" I thought with an inward groan of annoyance.
I shakily got up from the bed and just stood still for a moment as I regained my balance. Once I was sure I could walk without falling over I walked over to the door that lead out to the balcony. The same door and balcony where we first met, and where all the problems started.
I tried to open the door, but to no surprise it was locked. I stared at the door for a moment before noticing a faint red outline surrounding the door handle. I leaned down to investigate when I noticed what it was, it was magic. Mage magic.
I felt anger bubbling up inside my chest as I recognized the familiar instinctive glow that all mages magic contained. I spun around suddenly when I heard a click on the bedroom signaling someone was on the other side. I reached for my pocket dagger when I realized my corset and dagger were gone. I still had my tang top on but over it I was wearing a shirt that was a little too big on me. A look of disgust crossed my face after realizing it was Alexander's shirt.
My head snapped back up as I heard the door opening. I immediately went into defensive mode as the person started walking into the room. I was about to attack when I heard an all too familiar voice that caused me to freeze.
"I see you're finally awake." Alexander said as he stood leaning against the doorway. His auburn hair falling into his face slightly. "I wasn't sure how long you'd be out for, I gave you a pretty heavy dose of chloroform." He said casually.
"This little brat, who does he think he is!" I thought. "Why the hell did you kidnap me." I hissed, the venom clear in my voice.
"Well would you rather have been killed. I can easily make that happen." He remarked with a sly smile on his face.
"What do you gain out of keeping me alive." I snapped shooting a deathly glare towards Alexander.
"I gain a lot more than you think hun." He hummed before taking a few steps towards me.
"Don't use pet names with me you insolent moron." I said walking backwards keeping distance between the two of us. I was still in defensive mode as I kept a sharp eye on every single one of Alexander's movements. "Don't think for a second that I'm not afraid to use my magic." I snapped.
"Oh I don't doubt that, but here's the thing. I'm the only thing keeping you from death's doorstep, you kill me, and your one way to death ticket becomes active. Also, you're not the only one in this room who can practice magic darling." He said calmly, but he had a dark undertone to his voice.
My eyes widened when I saw the Azul necklace around his neck glow faintly. I faltered as my back suddenly hit the wall behind me. "H-how!?"
"Funny story actually, when mages are killed my family extracts their magic, so that we can use it for ourselves, it's helped keep the kingdom peaceful and well organized. There are many benefits to your magic." Alexander said with a cruel smile.
"You're insane!" I yelled. "Killing innocent people for your own personal pleasure and benefit! This is why I hate the royal family and everyone one in it." I accused as I stood my ground. I had learned very quickly that Alexander was dangerous and not someone to mess with if you want to keep your life.
"Mages are anything but innocent darling. Mages have been trying to centuries to overthrow the royals and government. They almost succeeded many times. But we held strong until there was only one left, you." Alexander sneered, it was obvious that he was enjoying this was more than I was. But I wasn't someone who backed down without a fight. "You're just an exception since I took a liking towards you."
"So I'm only alive because you like me! Well I hate to burst your ego, but I despise the entire royal family, yourself included. "You're all entitled self-centered brats who only care about themselves." I scoffed anger bubbling in my chest.
I watched as the cocky smile left Alexander's face and was replaced with a pissed off look. His eyes narrowed dangerously as he walked over to me, stopping just in front of me. Alexander was towering over me with one hand placed on the wall next to my head and the other grabbing the underside of my chin and forcing me to look at him.
"I'm only going to say this once, so listen very carefully love, the only thing keeping you alive is me, all I have to do is give one simple order and you'd be as good as dead. So we're going to set some ground rules right now. First things first, you will behave accordingly, especially in front of my parents. You will be respectful and follow my orders. You only listen to me unless it's an emergency, all the guards know this. If my parents ask you to do something thats different and you are to listen to them as well. No refusing an order from me or complaining. Do you understand me." He said lowly still giving me a deathly stare as he let go of my chin.
There was only one other time in my life where I felt this terrified, and that was when I had to hide in the underground compartment of my childhood home to stay alive and safe. I stood where I was pressed against the wall visibly shaken. I opened and closed my mouth a few times trying to find the words to speak.
"Well, I don't have all day. Do you understand." Alexander stated blankly
"Y-yes sir, i understand." I muttered out hanging my head as I avoided eye contact.
I felt Alexander gently grab my chin again as he lifted my head to look at him, I tried to move my head but he held on tight.
"Good girl. I have to go for a bit, behave while I'm gone." He purred before moving backwards a couple of feet before turning around and walking out of his room, closing and locking the door behind him.
After I was sure he was gone I slid to the floor hugging my knees as tears started to fall down the sides of my face. "Why does this happen to me, what about my aunt and uncle...and Aria, they're probably worried sick about me. I hope they will be alright." I thought as I just sat there against the wall tears streaming down my face.
