The soldiers job all changed as the exotics arrived. As they have a much much much way more bigger appetite than humans, if they were to feed them food from the troops supplies, they would not last a week.
So from guarding the border walls, the soldiers began to rotate to hunt for food. They already had nothing to do, it is better to feed those glutton than die.
Upon the crown prince's arrival, the strategy of guarding the walls became a lot more efficient. They had talked about a better solution in guarding the border walls and it was all a good plan.
The strategy would be to rotate the exotics in guarding the borders.
In the morning when the sun rises till lunch time, the lizard and the dragon would be guarding the walls. As it is very much safe by this time, they had put two level 1 exotic together. If they had nothing to do, then they could help to mend some cracks on the walls. The dragon can give the lizard a lift for it to reach the crack on the tall border wall and mend it using some sticky green adhesive that has a concrete finish when dried.
Devaine liked the lizard so much that she wanted to put it on her pouch and run. Though she can't do that. Its just that it is so dependable even if it is small.
After lunch which is 2pm till 9 in the evening, the exotics that was assigned was the Level One Cat and the Level 2 Cheetah. As the cat could warp in the air, it could kill an enemy easily once they were on his range. While the cheetah will be the one assigned to scan the sorroundings and be the cat's runningman.
By 9 in the evening till 7 in the morning, the top 3 was assigned to guard the walls as this was the time when a lot of enemy tries to invade or attack. Level 2 leopard could use a tsunami or a tsunami wall as defense. Level 3 eagle, who was still recuperating as it has a hole of her wings, was assigned to be the 'eye' for them three. While level 5 Sky, will be the 'sniper'. No explanation needed by this part.
It already had been two weeks since the expedition arrived and it had became more robust on the border walls. Especially when it is time for a meal.
" Excuse me ! Sky's food is incoming! "
" Lui's food incoming! "
" THE CAT DID NOT LIKE TODAY'S FOOD. REDO! "
The soldiers were busy holding big buckets of different food for different exotics that they were assigned.
For carnivores like Sky, Lui and Chase ( the Cheetah ), the soldiers that was assigned to their food could just make a huge batch of uncooked food and would only be needing cooked food once a week for new tastes. Though they have to portion the food well or else a war might happen.
Same goes for the cheetah though they had to slice it on smaller pieces at it does not like brusky prepared food.
The cat on the other hand is very very picky. Even though she only consumes atleast 3 times the amount of the soldiers food, they have to cater to her likes or else she would be grumpy all day and not budge at all.
The dragon, contrary to its looks, would only eat fruits and vegetables. It does not even like the smell of meat that it would gagged once it smells it.
And the lizard, small wild berries and some cuts vegetable leaves and she would all be set. Though the soldiers prepare lots of greens as she needs to munch a lot of it to make the adhesive used in repairing cracks on the walls. In short, the lizard is munching all day, all night.
After the meal, the soldiers would only have few hours of rest before they have to prepare for the food for dinner again. Especially for the 3 carnivores who is guarding the walls at midnight.
Though they are tired of nonstop work, they liked this much more than being on the battlefield.
As Astero had taken 3 healers, little by little, the troops who were preparing food became crowded as the injured once were healed and the dire once where recuperating, helping the other by chopping the greens that the lizard needs.
Sky would sometimes play with them when he wakes up earlier than usual. The soldiers like him a lot as he sometimes help them in hunting food. He was always with the eagle though.
" Am I hallucinating or there really was something flickering on Sky's tail? "
Clastel said as he saw Devaine who had just woken up and was sitting on the window looking below the soldiers who were playing with Sky and Lui. He closed the door and put down the tray of food on the side.
" It must be another tail. He had consumed atleast a thousand corpses already after he had wandered outside the border. Another 500 or a thousand or so and he would have 5 tails already. "
Clastel saw Devaine's sleepy look and bedhead hair. He chuckled as he goes to get the comb to fix it.
" He really is growing fast. And making him join the expedition is a good thing for his growth. No one else would have used the corpses like him. They would only rot on the battlefield. "
Clastel said as he starts to comb Devaine's hair. He decides to put it on a bun as to make it neat.
Though Devaine had a servant with her, she had assigned her to help the soldiers than serving her.
" Look at that glutton. He was eating again. "
Devaine said upon seeing Sky eating the food given by the soldiers whom was playing with him earlier. He had already eaten his lunch yet he was now munching food again.
" Let him be. He's a growing child. "
Claster laughed as he tied her hair in a bun. A wind blew inside the room, they could only be chill these days but few days from now, the war that they are anticipating would start.
