The last week of school went smoothly, Travis was expelled so there was no bother of him. I got introduced to Maple and Chug, they are like complete opposites but I think Maple likes Chug.
Me, Larry and Sal haven't hung out that much this week, because they were helping Sal's dad with something. But we had just finished school for the summer so I knew it was going to be exciting. I couldn't wait to see what adventures we were going to get up to.
I walked out of school and seen Larry and Sal at the entrance, I walked over to them. "It's summer break!" I celebrated. "Yeah, you come beach with us." Larry asked me, I didn't like the beach because you have to wear revealing clothes and sand gets everywhere. "Come on." Sal nudged me. "Alright." I agreed. We had to head back to the apartment so we could get our swimming stuff. We talked about how annoying sand is on the way back to the apartments. "Well me and Sal will head up to our floor together." I said to Larry. But he pressed the basement first so we went to the basement to let him out. "What are you gonna wear?" I asked Sal. "Swimming shorts, duh." He said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes. "What about you?" He asked. "Jeans and a hoodie." I laughed. He laughed too, we got out of the elevator and walked to our rooms.
I was rooting through my wardrobe for a bikini I bought last year. I found it pretty quickly seeing as it's the only one I have. I put it on and looking in the mirror. I was instantly disappointed. My scars ruined everything. I picked up my phone and rang Sal. "Hello?" He answered. "Hey, I'm not gonna go to the beach, yous have fun though." I told him and hung up. 2 minutes later I heard a knock at my door. I could hear my dad answering it, a few seconds later. My door opened to reveal Sal and Larry, Larry was wearing swimming shorts with ducks on them. Sal was wearing ones with skulls on them, he was also wearing wearing a tank top. "Guys!" I yelled covering myself up. "Shit, I'll leave." Larry walked out the room and shut the door. "What's up? Why aren't you coming anymore?" Sal asked standing in front of me. "Just look at me in this." I said moving my arms and showing him the bikini. "I don't see anything wrong with it." He said, looking down at my body. The bikini was a wine red, it was quite revealing though, when I had bought it, I didn't realise it was a thong swimsuit. "It's the back.." I hesitated. "Show me." He said pulling my arm. "You don't want to see it." I warned him. He rolled his eyes and turned me around. His eyes went wide. "There's nothing wrong with that." He said sitting down. "It's too revealing." I said with honesty. "Maybe a little." He laughed trying not to look. "And look at all these, they ruin it." I said pointing at my scars on my stomach, thighs and arms. "Nonsense. Put some shorts on." He said standing up. I put a pair of shorts on and a hoodie so I wasn't naked walking to the beach. We walked out of my room and I put my converse on. "Bye Dad." I said before leaving the apartment.

We got to the beach after an hour walk, Larry was complaining the whole way. We put our towels down on the sand. "Who's gonna get in the water with me." Larry said jumping up and down. "I will Larry but not yet." I told him. He started running towards the water and full speed and jumped in head first. "He's fucking crazy." I said to Sal. Who nodded his head. "You okay?" I asked him. "Yeah. I'm good." He said laying down on his back and I lay on my stomach. I hadn't taken the shorts off yet. Surprisingly there was absolutely no one at the beach apart from a new random people we didn't know, so I stood up and took them off and my hoodie. I lay straight back down on my belly. "Guys! You need to ge-." Larry was saying while out of breath from running to us. "Holy shit." He said looking at my ass. "Hey man, stop that." Sal said annoyed. "Woah, sorry Connie." He laughed. "But as I was saying, you gotta get in the water it's so good, I seen a girl over there with blue pubes. Who has blue pubes?" He exclaimed. "Sal does." I said without thinking. I covered my mouth in shock. Larry's jaw dropped and Sal sat up. "I thought you said you didn't see it?" Sal said suspiciously. "Whoops." I put my arms up. "So did you guys do the Devils tango?" Larry said in shock. "No, she walked in on my changing." Sal said chuckling. "Let's just get in the water." I said standing up. I grabbed Sal by the hand and tried to pull him up but I just fell over. "Bitch, just stand up." I said flicking sand at him. He laughed and got up, he took his mask off and put it inside the rucksack he had brought. We all started running into the water. "It's fucking freezing Larry!" I yelled. "I know isn't it great?" He said floating on his back. "No." Sal said shivering. I dove on top of Larry sending him under the water. Sal laughed at Larry gasping for air. "I'm gonna fucking kill you." Larry said menacingly. He then started swimming towards me which was actually terrifying so I jumped onto Sal. "Get him away!" I screamed pretending to be traumatised. But instead of Sal helping me he threw me into the water. I went all the way under. I came back up gasping and coughing from inhaling loads of salt water. "Jeez, are you okay?" Sal said patting my back. "Yeah." I said before coughing some more. Larry on the other hand was wetting himself laughing.
We were at the beach for about 2 hours now. We had gotten out of the water and Larry was building sand castles. "Do you think he's got autism or something?" I asked Sal. "Oh yeah for sure." He said back looking over at Larry. "He's a big teddy bear though." I said acknowledging his sweet side. "Hmm, why were you at his, you know about a week ago?" Sal asked turning over so we were making eye contact. "He was asking me about something." I said avoiding the question. "That isn't enough information, what can Larry know that I can't?" He questioned. "He was asking me if I liked you." I said truthfully. "Oh..really?" He said looking over at Larry again. "Yeah, that's all." I said nervously. "Cool." He responded.

We were all packed up from the beach and we were going to be heading back to the apartments now. "Do you want me to carry that?" Sal said pointing at the bag I was holding. "Yes please, but I'll take it back half way." I said handing him the bag. "Are you guys dating?" Larry said curiously. "No Larry." Sal said firmly. I looked down. "Well let's get going." I said pointing towards the exit of the beach.

We were walking home and Larry was walking behind me and Sal, he was on the phone to his mom, she had found his weed apparently. "So, do you like me?" Sal said after about 20 minutes of silence. "I mean, I've never liked anyone like that before, so I'm not sure what it's supposed to feel like." I said truthfully. "Yeah, me neither." He replied. "Do you like me?" I asked, not even daring to look up. "More than I thought I could like someone." He said looking straight forward. I didn't say anything back.
We got back to the apartments, Lisa was waiting at the entrance for Larry, she dragged him inside by his hair. "Is she gonna kill him?" I asked Sal. "He's been caught before. It was worse last time." He said. "Can we go up to your place?" I asked him. "Yeah, if you want." He said pressing floor four on the elevator. We got out of the elevator and went into his place. "Go ahead into my room, I'm gonna take a shower." He said motioning to the bathroom. "Can I take one after? I stink of seawater." I asked. He just nodded. I walked into his room and sat down on his bed. A piece of paper was laying on the floor it seemed like it had fallen off the shelve he had above his bed. I
Picked it up. "Dear Connie, I don't know if I'll ever give you this but since I have met you I can sleep at night. You make everyday easier. I have never felt so happy around someone in my whole life. When you're sad, I feel sad. You light up my life. You are the bravest person I've ever met. You're very beautiful too." There was more but I heard Sal coming so I placed it on the shelf and sat there on my phone like nothing had happened. "Shower's free." He said pointing out the door. God he looked good. He had sweat pants on, no top and his hair was wet. It was down too. "Right, I'll be back." I said jumping up off his bed and heading to the bathroom. I had a shower and put on the shorts and hoodie I had on back on it was way too hot for this hoodie. But I had no bra or top so I had to wear the hoodie. I walked back to his room. "All done." I said getting onto his bed. "Nice, what you wanna watch?" He asked picking up the remote. "Actually, do you have a tank top I could wear?" I asked. He pointed to a drawer. It was full of cool tank tops, I chose a wine red one that was miles too big. Instead of leaving the room. I just turned my back to Sal to put the top on. I turned around. "What do you think?" I asked him posing. "Looks good on you." He said, he started unbuckling his mask and threw it on the floor. "Thank you." I said blushing. He patted beside him. I got onto the bed. The heat was making me tired, I sat up and lay my head on Sal's back, he was lay on his stomach. "You comfy?" He asked. "Yes actually." I said smiling. After about 2 minutes I was knocked out cold.
"Connie." I was being shaken awake. I opened my eyes and seen Sal. "What?" I groaned. "It's 12am, does your dad not want you home?" He asked. "Can I stay here?" I asked him. He laughed slightly. "Yeah." He smiled. I picked up my phone to text my dad to let him know I'd be staying at Sal's place. He said it was fine.

I got ready for bed, stealing another pair of shorts off Sal. "Do you ever wish you were normal?" I asked him. "Like, my face?" He looked over at me. "No, no. Mentally." I explained. "Do you think you're not mentally normal?" He said sitting up on his elbow so that he was hovering over me. "I'm definitely not." I said looking up at him. "Why's that?" He asked. "Sal, where's your mom?" I asked. He paused for a few seconds. "My mom is dead." He answered quietly. "My mom is dead too." I told him. He looked at me in shock, he didn't know that, none of my friends did. "You never told me that." Sal said putting his hand on mine. "I don't normally." I said quickly, I reached for the remote in his other hand. "How did she die?" He asked hesitantly. "Cancer." I responded. I felt my eyes tearing up. "Sorry.." He said pull my head onto his shoulder. "I won't ask you that." I said calming his nerves. I guessed she had died the same day his face got scarred.
"Thank you." He smiled.
