Light. Too much light.

It was unbearable, burning your eyes even behind your eyelids.

“Sh*t–!”

“Relax, you just woke up after more than ten hours of nonstop sleeping.”

You immediately snapped your head to the side, searching for the unknown voice.

“What an energetic child, reminds me of when I was your age.”

…Uh…Who was this old man, and where were you?

“I haven’t been able to do any thorough checks, as the contract you signed states only your private doctor can.” He calmly stated, as if he couldn't see your palpable lack of understanding. “But it seems you’re doing fine. I’ve checked your blood pressure, temperature, and all other factors I’m allowed to, and they all confirm the same thing: you overworked yourself and fainted from exhaustion.”

“I–I’m sorry, but… what?”

The doctor seemed unfazed by your confusion. “Yes, it’s a severe case of exhaustion. I was considering contacting your personal doctor, but their information isn’t in your official documents. I was just about to ask your father for his contact details so your doctor could check you up.”

“What?” The mention of your father raised all the alarms. “N-no! Why would you do that?!”

Now it was the old man’s turn to raise a brow.

“I just said so, didn’t I? Your father legally prohibited anyone other than the doctor he authorized from handling your health. If you want to be sure you’re okay, I’ll have to call them.”

“I know… I know that! It’s just that, ugh–” Your head was spinning, but you finally understood. Your last memory was your crying reflection in the mirror before you fainted. And your ‘personal doctor’ was actually the medicine specialist your father bribed to keep your real gender a secret. So… You were likely in Blue Lock’s infirmary with some random guy trying to check you up. “I don’t need you to contact my doctor, I’m already feeling better.”

“But–”

“I insist. I don’t want to trouble my father with unnecessary calls. Thank you.”

The man hesitated, but before he could continue, a knock interrupted him.

“Hello. Oh, you’re awake now, [l/n]-san. How are you feeling?”
