-
there's pain beneath appearance.
-
to anyone who needs proper comfort.
-
a cat's purr
with you, there was both pain and comfort
but I couldn't leave you behind
there was an obvious bond of some sort
days were easy, times were fun
except for those moments when they simply were not
I can remember lazy days, spent in many ways
the gentle hum of my cat's purr
it was a soft, soothing vibration, sure
but it was deceiving, just like you were
the gentle hum could be heard for it all
a soothing lull, throughout the pain
even though the mood wasn't the same
she continued her hum through her dying breath
reassuring herself it was all the best
she reached for those assurances even when they
were empty and had nothing to say
of comfort, of love, of "it's okay"
