Chapter 7-last day

Lucy's pov
Today is the last day before I go on maternity leave I came in a little early today to talk with grey, I knocked on his office door and he gave me the ok to come in,
"Whats up lucy"
"I just wanted to inform you that after this shift I will be taking maternity leave"
"So soon, is everything ok with the baby"
"Yeah the baby is fine, at the moment but my doctor is concerned about certain complications further along the line and wants me to avoid stressing the baby so he suggested taking an early maternity"
"Alright, and hey if you need anything during this pregnancy just know we are all here for you"
"Thank grey" after that I go clock in to work and found Nyla and Angela the had just gotten in we were still working on a case from two days ago and we were running out of time on this case unless we find something new than this will become a cold case, Tim and I didn't ride together this morning because I wanted to come in just a bit earlier than usual so while I was trying to find some new evidence he come up from behind me and kissed my cheek
"Good morning" he says
"Morning" I mumble not even looking at him
"Someones in a mood"
"I'm sorry, just this case something about it just isn't sitting right"
"Hmh well try not to worry too much about it you know the whole point of being here with Harper and Lopez is not avoid what already happened"
"Yeah I know, I know and the whole taking early maternity leave is to avoid stressing the baby so I won't focus too hard but this girl something about her is familiar"
"Well she's had a rough life according to her file and she lived a lot like Tamra used to, I mean you could just be-"
"I am not projecting if that's where you're going with this"
"I wasn't going to use thoes words specifically but yeah kinda where I was going with that"
"I don't know before I would have said no way but maybe, I never thought about how me becoming a mom would affect the way I do this job"
"I'm sure it will just make you ten times better at it than you already are"
"Yeah, shouldn't you be working"
"Yeah but I wanted to check up on my girls" Angela's smile tells me that she heard what Tim just said right now
"You guys are having a girl"
"Yeah but we aren't really telling people yet so" I say
"Telling people what" Harper asks Tim looks at me and I nod
"We are having a baby girl but you have to keep it quiet we aren't saying anything yet" he says
"Aww Tim as a girl dad" Nyla says sarcastically and me and Angela giggle while Tim tools his eyes
"Whatever I've got to go to work" and he kiss my head and walks off and the three of us get to work we find a led and the check it out while I stay back at the station and get a call that they have discovered something on our victims body that could be soothing so I go to the morgue and cheek it out
"Lucy Chen?"
"Yeah, what did you find"
"This rib has some interesting marks on it almost as if the victim had a really deep infected tattoo"
"What- um- what do you mean by that"
"Well I could always do a dusting to try and make out what it possibly could have been"
"Yes please"
"Alright it will only take a minute" she starts dusting and I can already tell that my worst fears are coming true D.O.D is all I can make out before I run out of the building to throw up outside and this is the first time in months that it wasn't because of the pregnancy. I called Tim immediately after,
"Hey Luce what's up"
"Tim-" I say crying
"Hey baby talk to me are you ok"
"No- I- they- oh god" I say barley getting my thoughts together I couldn't even begin to think about what this would mean
"Lucy where are I'm coming now"
"Th- the morgue"
"Ok I'm five minutes out ok just breathe ok Luce" I tried to focus on my breathing like Tim said but I couldn't and those five minutes felt like an eternity and once he got here I got up off the curb and ran into his arms and cried for a while while he just comforted me once I could finally get my thoughts together I told him,
"Tim she's back, Rosalind"
"What are you talking about"
"She had to get another Caleb because the victim in there had the tattoo"
"Luce baby-"
"No don't say I'm overreacting or tha- that-"
"No I was going to say that we need to be 100% sure that this is what is actually going on before we ring any bells cause if we do and this isn'-t"
"I know, I know, ok I think I'm good to back in"
"No, baby your not going back in there me and Angela are you and Nyla are staying out here" he says as Harper and Lopez pull up in the parking lot
"Hey you good" Angela asks me
"Yeah I'm fine" I say
"No she's not but she'll never admit that" Tim says
"Oh we know that's why I'm taking her back to the station where she will be clocking out and going home" Nyla says
"No I'm fine really, I'm good I can handle it"
"Luce you had a panic attack that is definitely not avoiding stress" Tim's says as he hugs me tighter
"Ok you have a small point and I mean small" I say then he kiss the top of my head and tells me that he'll see me after shift and that Tamra is waiting at my apartment for me and Nyla takes me back to the station where I clock out and grey calls me into his office
"You ok Lucy I know this must be hard"
"Yeah I'll be fine it just shook me up a bit but I'm fine"
"Alright I've already approved your maternity leave"
"Thanks grey for everything not just this but everything over the years"
"Of course hey Lucy you sure your ok to be alone right now I can clear Tim for a while"
"I won't be alone Tamra is waiting for me and I wouldn't want to put you out especially if this is Rosalind"
"Lucy I wouldn't have brought it up if I didn't mean it"
"I'm fine and I'm sure Tim would rather be here than at home with me, what I don't get is why now I mean she's been dead for a year now I really thought we were done with her"
"Yeah me too be careful ok"
"I will bye grey" Nyla takes me home and makes sure that I get into my apartment and that Tamra is there and then leaves to go back to the station and me and Tamra decide to order food and watch a movie to get our minds off this whole thing
