Chapter 15-our girl

Tim's pov
As the nurse is doing the exam Lucy's heart rate starts to slow and eventually she passes out and the nurse calls a code blue and when her heart stops they start CPR and get her back and Amy tells me that she thinks Lucy is bleeding internally and wants permission to take her for some tests and possibly surgery I tell her yes and I take Isabel to the hospital nursery and tell on of the metro officers to stay there with her and then I go and she if there's any news about Lucy and to find Nyla and Angela they were in the waiting room yelling a nurses asking about Lucy and when they see me they walk over to me
"Hey how our girl" Angela asks
"Where the baby" Nyla asks I don't even know what happened to Lucy I don't know if she's ok what's happening I try to say something anything but I can't
"Tim earth to Tim what happened is Lucy ok" Angela asks and I can't hold the tears anymore
"Tim?" Nyla says I can see the concern looks
"Tim is she alive" Angela asks
"I don't know" is all I can say before I lose it completely and start sobbing after a minute or too I calm down
"Tim where is the baby" Nyla asks
"In the nursery with a metro officer"
"Ok let's go get your baby girl make sure she's safe yeah and then we will deal with Lucy after ok" Angela says
"Yeah your right ok" we go to the nursery and get Isabel and Nyla and Angela take turns holding her all I can think about is what I'm going to tell Tamra if Lucy dies and how the hell I'm going to raise this baby without her I need to not go there the best I can do for the girls is be strong
"Angela can you go get Tamra don't tell her anything I should be the one too"
"Of course" she passes the baby to me but I can't look at her without thinking about Lucy and I can't handle that right now so I give her to Nyla
"She's a strong girl Tim you know this, if she can survive being suffocated in a barrel then she'll survive this and she'll be alright"

"Well then you will help her through that just like you did last time"
"If she dies- I don't think I can be a good father to that baby"
"Tim what are you talking about you'll be a great father"
"Not without Lucy ok I can't even hold my own daughter Nyla how am I supposed to do it on my own"
"You won't be on your own"
"Yes I will"
"You'll have all of us and you'll make it work because IF this baby girl loses her mama then she will need her dad to be looking out for her"
"What do I tell Tamra"
"The truth that we don't know anything about Lucy's condition just that it is serious and that she shouldn't worry"

"Anytime Tim" we sit in silence till Angela and Tamra get here and when the walk through the doors Tamra's face lights up as she sees Isabel
"Oh my god is this baby Isabel" she says
"Yeah you want to hold her" I say
"Of course" she looks around for a minute
"Where's Lucy"
"That's kinda why your here um she had some complications with the birth and we don't know anything about her condition yet but she did go into cardiac arrest but they got her back and now she's is getting tests done"
"Oh my gosh Tim" she says
"I know but try not to worry ok we don't know what's happening so no new is better than bad news right so you know just stay positive" she gives the baby back to Nyla and then comes and gives me a hug and I hug her back and we stand there for a bother minute or two before either of us break the hug
"How's the baby is she fine" Tamra asks
"Yeah she is perfectly healthy" I say then I loo land Nyla and Angela and the both have a look on there face and I know their about to make a smart ass comment
"So Isabel huh cute name don't you think" Angela says
"Oh adorable tell me Tim where did you come up with the name" Nyla says
"Ok both of you knock it off Lucy named the baby and she thought it would be nice"
"Yeah ok nobody names their baby after an ex" Angela says
"Epically an ex that wasn't even theirs" Nyla says
"That's what I said but Lucy was persistent about naming their first baby girl Isabel" Tamra said
"Wow she's a bigger person then I am" Angela says and Nyla and Tamra nod their heads that's when she starts crying for the first time
"What do you want to do Tim" Nyla asks me
"Give her to me" I say unsure what I can do but I know it's the right thing for my daughter and as soon as she was in my arms she started to calm down
"Looks like she just wanted daddy" Angela says then the nurse that helped Lucy comes back into the room
"Hey y'all could I speak to Mr Bradford"
"There fine Amy is Lucy ok" I say
"Yes and no so she is in surgery right now we found a tear on her uterine wall and that's what was bleeding so when the doctor did his stitches he stop the blood from coming out of the tear but that didn't affect the bleeding inside so all the blood just stayed in one place so that's where the extra pain came from and so we are fixing the now but it's a slow process so it will take a while"
"Thank you so if she makes it through this surgery she'll be fine"
"Yes but there could end up being lingering effects from this"
"Like what"
"She could possibly never be able to have kids again at least not the natural way her ovaries are fine and so are fallopian tubes if this does affect her uterus she'll be able to do IVF and get a surrogate and have kids that way"
"So she could have kids just never carry them again"
"Yes" then her pager went off and she read it and looked back at me
"Um Mrs Chen is going into cardiac arrest again would you like doctors to do CRP"
"Yes, yes what are they waiting for yes" she nods and takes off running Angela and Nyla come up and put their hands on my shoulder to try and comfort me but then I remember Tamra and I look over at her and see the tears in her eyes and pull myself together and go over there and hug her as close as possible with my left arm while the baby is still in my right she is holding on to me like her life depends on it and we stay like that for a while then I decided that it would be ok to put the baby down for a minute to comfort Tamra so I put the baby in the hospitals little bassinet and comfort Tamra after a while the baby starts to get fussy and by now it's about 4am in the morning and when Lucy coded it was about 2am so it's been about 2 hours and the baby is probably hungry Angela picks up the baby and says that she'll handle it I nod and tell her thanks eventually Tamra fulls asleep against me on the couch in the room and that's when I allow myself 5 minutes to worry about Lucy
"See amazing dad" Nyla points
"I'm just doing what Lucy would want"
"Yeah but still you're doing it and we're here to help like I said"
"Thank you Nyla, I almost feel guilty for putting Isabel down but Tamra needed me more"
"It's ok not to hold her every second"
"I know but try telling Lucy that while she's crying because of all the overthinking she does"
"So I'm assuming she said something about the whole baby bonding thing"
"Not even that just that she would be in somebody's arms that we trusted at all times I tried to tell her that it was unnecessary but I gave up after a while"
"Yeah happens a lot and it won't stop happening especially after this if I was her I would use the whole I almost died in childbirth to win every argument"
"Don't give her ideas"
"I would also use the whole buried alive thing to win every fight too"
