she worked in the record shop, rearranging the records into alphabetical order and restocking. there wasn't anything else to do - it's not like people went to record shops anymore. especially not on a rainy tuesday, at 11am. on a school break. at least that was her mindset, until he walked in. 

she lifted her head up and looked at the boy. he quickly took off his grey beanie, ruffling his hair as the quiff he styled started to fade. he was broad, tall, and blonde. even with messy hair he was beautiful. she walked over to the boy, aimlessly wondering the small shop.

"need any help?" she shyly asked. he looked to her and smiled, meeting her eyes. god, those blue orbs seemed to suffocate her. she thought of how beautiful he looked up close. he was art - she could stare at him forever. and she wishes she could. 

then she remembered cody. her boyfriend. 'snap out of it.' her thoughts screamed. it wasn't that easy, but she did.

"no, just looking." he smiled, his pearly whites shining through. was that an accent she heard? probably not. 

"okay." she quickly paced away, back to her small nook where she was organising. she resumed her work, mouthing along to fallingforyou by the 1975.

"you like the 1975?" his voice rang from behind her, accent really showing up this time. 

'australian.' she thought. of course. 'of course he had to have a fucking accent.'

"uh, yeah. they're one of my favourite bands." she smiled sheepishly. he nodded.

"mine too." 

silence.

"i'm luke." he greeted.

"hi luke. i'm kelsea. it's spelled with 's-e-a' instead of 's-e-y.' still pronounced the same. weird, i know." she looked down, embarrassed. she hated the spelling of her name. people often - usually teachers - called her "kell-see-ya." if they saw it in writing. it annoyed her.

"'s-e-a.' it's cute. reminds me of the ocean." he laughed a bit. every time he laughed she swore her heart skipped a beat. "well, hi kel-sea. any song recommendations? i wanna add to my wall collection."

she never much liked her name until it fell out of his mouth.

"well, uh, here." she grabbed a record he thought he might enjoy to stop awkwardly standing. "you might like this." she handed him the AM record by arctic monkeys.

"i do, actually." he smiled. she turned red with embarrassment. he noticed, of course.

"i don't mind; at least i know you have good taste. now i have something to walk out with." he chuckled. thunder clapped loudly outside, making her flinch and him wince.

"guess you won't be walking out for awhile." she giggled.

and he didn't walk out for the rest of her 8 hour shift.

*a/n: if you skipped the backstory , basically a girl named kelsea met luke during her record shop shift and they bonded over music while there was a storm outside

it's been a month since they met. kelsea and luke texted nonstop and sometimes partnered up in class, but they hardly talked at school. maybe said hi in the halls. they'd hung out at her house once, when kelsea was on her 'lady days' and luke had brought her candies and let her watch whatever movies she wanted while he comforted her. kelsea loved the gesture - cody had never done something like that for her in the year they'd been dating, and luke hardly knows her and acts as if they've been best friends their whole lives. kelsea texted him asking him to hang out with her and her small friend circle during school. and he did.

"hi babe." cody kissed kelsea's cheek as she walked up to the small circle of friends she had in the halls. maddie, calum, and cody were really her only friends around the school, but now that she met luke, she had him as well. "who's this?" cody ran a hand through his hair, looking at luke as he lingered at kelsea's side. it was pretty funny how shy he was around school. especially for a 6'4 boy everyone is bound to notice at some point.

"i'm luke." he waved to cody. cody smiled and waved back - fake smiled. kelsea introduced luke to maddie and calum, but calum already knew him. they were in the same math class. and they were both aussies. they bonded over talking about aus, complaining about the flights and the sudden weather change and jet lag they first had when they arrived to the u.s., ect. they became pretty close, but calum wasn't really the type to hang out with anyone outside of class besides maddie and kelsea. soon enough, the bell rang.

"bye princess." cody pulled kelsea closer and lifted her chin, kissing her deeply as luke waited to walk to english with her - the only other period they had together besides science and lunch. cody opened his eyes and looked at luke and glare. as if to say "she's mine." he closed his eyes again to finish off the kiss with a smirk and a small giggle from kelsea.

"love you." cody whispered.

"love you." she smiled and he removed his hand from her side. the group parted ways and kelsea walked quickly to keep her pace with luke's long strides.

"all i'm saying is luke is pretty cute, okay? you're cute, he's cute. it just adds up." maddie joked into her phone speaker. she loved teasing kelsea. 

"yeah, he's cute. but i'm dating cody. and cody's cute too." kelsea pouted into the phone. maddie could see the way her face looked exactly, knowing her too well not to. after a bit of quietness kelsea spoke up.

"so how about calum? you two still acting like 5th graders and hiding your feelings, or?"

"he doesn't like me like that, kelsea. you know that." 

"he does!" kelsea yelled, making maddie jump slightly and roll her eyes as a blush crept on her cheek. she'd fallen in love with calum nearly a year ago. they had been friends for about 3 years and maddie had a crush on him for half her friendship, now in love with the little puppy. kelsea swears he feels the same, but maddie is just too insecure to believe it. 

"i dunno." she mumbled.

"whatever, you'll find out sometime." kelsea paused, "you know he talks about you all the time, right?"

"well, you've talked about luke  an awful lot lately, too. are you in love with him? no. calum talking about me doesn't mean anything." maddie contradicted. she did have a point, but the 'skinny love' between maddie and calum was so obvious, a blind man could see it. 

"i'm gonna head to bed. text you." kelsea lied, wanting to get off the phone and just message. 

"text you."

and they hung up.

kelsea was stressed ever since she saw luke in the shop. he makes her happy, but he hasn't left her head. and she hates it. maybe she just liked the idea of having a boy best friend for once? at least that's what she hoped it was. her phone went off, interrupting her thoughts about luke.

luke puke: wanna come over tomorrow?

me: maybe :-)

luke puke: you can bring ur teen wolf dvd set thingy. and i won't complain.

me: i'm in.

do u ship keldy or lukesea ?? i'm lukesea af but keldy is cute af too smh ;; luke is such a shy lil sweetheart aw :-))) bUT then again , cody seems like such an overprotective bf i think im swooning 

anYWAY !!!! this book is starting off slow but there will be a lot of twists n turns n character development soon !! ! wooO thank u 4 reading :-)
