it's been two months since the big happening at cody's. well, not so 'big' anymore, considering it happens every time they hang out now. it's a cycle - intimacy, interruption, argument, and abuse. kelsea has so many bruises on her body, but the only person who notices them are luke. not even her mother or maddie have noticed them, but she covers them up pretty well with big uni sweatpants and maddie's sweaters. kelsea looked for luke for a few minutes, until she realised he was already sitting at the table with maddie and calum. she quickly walked over, sitting down next to luke and across from maddie and calum, resting her head tiredly on luke's shoulder and not talking much. she mostly just listened to their conversation.

"are you okay?" calum said, continuing to eat his apple, "you seem..off."

kelsea lifted from luke, causing his hand resting in her's to fall, "yeah, i'm fine. just feeling a bit sick is all." she lied.

she was sick, but more in the figurative way. she was sick of cody. she was usually happy with her friends, but now all she can think about is him. and not happy thoughts. all he ever did was hurt her. he says he'll change, and never does. he promises one thing after another, making her fall for his tricks again and again.

"kelsea," luke looked over to her, lowering his voice so he didn't interrupt maddie and calum's conversation.

she snapped out of her daydream, meeting his concerned eyes, "hm?"

"come over after school today, yeah?" luke smiled a bit, grabbing  the hand on her lap and rubbing it, trying to be comforting.

"oh, i dunno...do you think cody would be okay with that?" she bit her lip. even she didn't realise how toxic he truly was.

"last i checked, cody didn't control you."

"do you have any clothes i could borrow?" kelsea said, playing with her shirt a bit.

"oh, yeah. here," he paused 'the office' and they walked up to luke's room, opening the closet to reveal mostly muscle tees and old band shirts.

kelsea grabbed a muscle tee that read 'destroy yourself see who gives a fuck' and held it up, "could i wear this?" she asked. he smiled lightly and nodded.

he stood up, "i'll let you get changed, then.." he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, turning a little pink, "sorry." he said, picking up his pace a little and nearly walking out.

kelsea laughed lightly and shook her head, turning her figure to the closet and removing her top, not realising luke wasn't out the door yet. he stopped dead in his steps, turning his head towards her body and blushing a bit as she put his shirt on, removing her tight shorts and fixing her hair. he bolted out of the room before she could turn around towards him and see he was there. what if she didn't want him to see? what if she would think he was a perv if she found he had stayed? he didn't mean to take a peek, it just happened.

kelsea walked out the door to the hall where he was waiting.

"something up?" she asked as his face flushed. "your face is kinda..red." she giggled a little.

"uh, n-nothing." he nervously said, avoiding her gaze.

"okay.." she laughed lightly again, "let's go finish our show, come on." she grabbed his hand, running back to the livingroom to continue watching netflix. kelsea cuddled up into him

after the episode ended, kelsea poked luke's cheek, "why are you still so red, lukey?" she teased

"n-nothing.." he kept his eyes on the screen. 'should i tell her? maybe she won't care..but what if she gets mad at me?'  he thought, not sure if he should tell kelsea he saw her shirtless. he always did make a big deal out of nothing, but finally decided to just speak up. "it's just i- i saw you changing and..yeah it doesn't really matter, i just wanted to tell you.." her eyes widened and she turned pinkish, "but, i'm really sorry! i hadn't left the room when you started to change and i just saw it and i know you changed really quick but i'm really sorry..i-i should've told you and i hope you're not mad at me because i wasn't trying to be a perv or anything and i-"

"luke," kelsea stopped him, "it's fine. calum and maddie have seen me shirtless. it doesn't matter much. it's like you seeing me in a bikini. no big deal." she smiled at him, nuzzling her face back into his neck as he relaxed his body into hers.

"i'm sorry anyway." he mumbled as she laughed and shook her head. "but can i just say something really quick?"

she tensed up, afraid he would point out things like stretch marks, or the fact her boobs weren't impressive, or how she has a slight muffintop. but why should she care if he thinks her boobs are 'unimpressive?' he's her best friend, not her boyfriend. she shouldn't care what he thinks of her boobs. not that she should care about a boy's standards, anyway. she spoke up, uneasy, "sure?"

"you look really good in my clothes."

the next day of school, kelsea was feeling a lot better. luke had driven her, laughing and talking the whole ride to school. she had borrowed his blue and white flannel, saying it matched her outfits 'aesthetic' and luke quickly agreed, secretly loving the fact she wanted to wear his clothes and not cody's.

but, instead of hanging out with kelsea at lunch like luke wanted, she chose to be with cody. and it made him more than angry. he felt hurt, and jealous, but he didn't really get why. he decided he would just hang out at calum's tonight, maybe play some video games with him - fifa for three hours straight - to get his mind off things.

luke sighed, setting the controller down and laying back, rubbing his temples.

"my game is so off." luke said, and rolled his eyes.

"yeah, something's obviously bothering you..what is it?" calum said. he'd noticed at lunch but kept quiet about it, guessing it was just something at the time. but it hadn't faded all day and he was becoming curious.

"i don't know..i feel angry, i guess?" luke said.

"why? is it because you're jealous of someone...." he trailed off, a smirk growing, "someone like..i don't know - kelsea?" he nudged his shoulder. luke didn't laugh it off as usual, he just groaned.

"i guess. i drove her to school today and then as soon as we got there, she practically ran into cody's arms. and then he gave me this look..like when you're telling someone "she's mine.." like he was dangling the carrot type of thing. it's- i dunno. he's so annoying." luke ranted, causing calum to laugh.

"you're so whipped, man." calum turned off the game and grabbed a chip from the bowl, dipping it in ranch. "it's pretty funny to see how jealous you get over cody and kelsea."

"i'm not jealous..i just don't like him. he's an ass, and he's hurt kelsea so much and she just keep running back. it's like she doesn't see his flaws."

"well, you're not wrong. i hate him too. but this is more than just hating a guy for you..i think it's because you like her." calum dipped in ranch dip again, smirking a bit with his bite.

luke rolled his eyes, "yeah, i'm pretty sure that's not it." he felt like he might have been lying to himself. "probably."

calum looked at him in surprise, "oh my god, really? you have a thing for her, don't you? don't you?" he smiled wide, finding the shy, admitting luke to be cute.

"i think? i dunno. maybe i just think she's pretty. and funny..and her laugh is so cute - all squeaky and loud. and her clothing style is cute too..and how she always says 'art hoe' or something about how her outfit is 'aesthetic' or - the funniest one  is when she calls herself tumblr or says she's 'rockin the hoe aesthetic.' i don't know. but she's funny and cute and-"

"lucas. you never stop talking about her. you're around her whenever you can be. when maddie's over and she's not you're constantly telling maddie to 'tell kelsea hi.' and you two are never not texting unless she's being moody, like lately." he laughed, "you're whipped like butter."

"whatever mate." luke laughed and took a chip.

"yeah. but hey, you should tell her." calum poked luke's cheek lightly.

"no," luke's face dropped a bit, "i shouldn't."
